An interactive digital health platform that empowers individuals with diabetes and pre-diabetes to prevent complications
About us
The Language of Diabetes is a patient education and directed action program aiming to shine a spotlight on the often-overlooked signs and symptoms of diabetes and pre-diabetes that may indicate disease progression and one or more complications. In a world where more than 1 in 10 people are living with diabetes and pre-diabetes, our initiative is crucial in fostering awareness and promoting early detection of complications, thereby enhancing patient outcomes. Why This Campaign is Needed • Raising Awareness: Regular Blood sugar measurement in addition to symptom checks can provide a comprehensive view of diabetes progression. In India only 16-25% of all people with diabetes regularly self-check their blood sugar levels with glucometers. • Early Detection: Early recognition of subtle signs can prevent or moderate the emergence of diabetes-related complications. It can also help pre-diabetics and those with a family history monitor themselves and take preventative action. • Patient Empowerment: Enrolling in our program educates and empowers patients to understand and respond to the language of diabetes. It gives them a compelling reason to initiate or increase the frequency of self-measurement of their blood glucose levels. Language of Diabetes Program is a part of Obesity International

Tingle, Tingle: The Neuropathy Jingle Why did we create a peppy, funny little jingle about Peripheral Neuropathy? May 5th to 11th is World Peripheral Neuropathy (PN) Awareness Week. PN is a debilitating condition that often accompanies Diabetes. More and More young and middle-aged Indians now suffer from Diabetes Peripheral Neuropathy. The good news however is that Peripheral Neuropathy could be prevented or easily managed if discovered and treatment instituted early. The challenge was to make the demographic aware of the signs and symptoms, so they could seek care. Hence we created a Jingle in a format that seems to appeal most to them. What do you think? Your feedback is welcome. Visit us at: https://lnkd.in/dFXu5Bki Jingles and Songs Can Help Boost Preventative Health Messages There is evidence that songs may be an effective method to deliver public health messages that result in improved education and changes in behavior. A review published by authors from the College of Health, Psychology and Social Care, University of Derby, Derby, UK found several advantages of using songs as public health strategies were identified that included their social and cultural relevance, ubiquity, low cost and enjoyment. Check For Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy (DPN) A simple touch can tell a deeper story about your health. The image we've shared shows a critical test for Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy (DPN) – a condition affecting millions, yet often overlooked until it's advanced. Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy occurs when high blood sugar damages nerve fibers, especially in your legs and feet. It can manifest as pain, tingling, or even loss of sensation, which this monofilament test can detect. Why should you pay attention? Early detection can prevent complications. Managing your diabetes can slow the progression. Treatment exists to help manage symptoms. Don't let numbness become your normal. Regular screenings, like the one pictured, are key. If you or a loved one has diabetes, ask your doctor about DPN screening. Stay informed. Stay healthy. Let's walk this journey together, one step at a time. 91% Higher Risk Of Heart Disease With Intermittent Fasting A recent study from the American Heart Association reveals startling findings: individuals following an 8-hour, time-restricted eating pattern exhibit a 91% higher risk of cardiovascular death. Read more about the study here: https://lnkd.in/d__7Y43E This research, analyzing over 20,000 U.S. adults, suggests that such diets, despite their popularity for weight loss and heart health benefits, might have long-term adverse effects. With heart disease and stroke incidences climbing among younger, seemingly healthier populations, it's time to reevaluate our dietary choices.
