Low #differentiation and limited #innovation in the Indian #wearables #market is making #companies operating in the segment relook at their strategy. The combined #market share of the top three players operating in the space has shrunk from 77 per cent in Q1 2023 to 66 per cent in Q1 2024, Counterpoint Technology Market Research data shows. Industry insiders say that the #decline in #demand is a result of cheaper products flooding the market, in combination with a #base correction. As such, sales of #wearables via large #ecommerce platforms like Flipkart have also taken a hit. This is forcing companies to #reassess their strategy. Firms like boAt Lifestyle and Noise, for instance, are now focusing on producing higher-end devices in a bid to offer consumers better quality products. Short term growth pangs aside, analysts say that long-term demand recovery in the #wearables market will be contingent upon #innovation and newer differentiating #product launches. Much has been said about sovereign green bond trading at GIFT City, however doubts remained as settlements at GIFT City are USD denominated whereas green bonds are rupee denominated. This story is an attempt to resolve some of those doubts. Investors may need to pay banks a #conversionfee to settle transactions of the government’s #greenbonds at exchanges in IFSC of #GIFTCity, according to Hetal Kotak, NSE International Exchange’s head of listings. In the settlement mechanism currently being discussed by the RBI, exchanges, and clearing houses, investors will pay for green bonds in dollars through a banking unit in the IFSC. These banking units will then enter a trade on the exchange where the green bond is listed in foreign currency terms. The exchange's clearing corporation will handle any conversion between the dollar and the rupee, including secondary market trades between an Indian and foreign entity, and any refunds, Kotak said, with investors having to pay a fee to banks for the conversion. And now it's official...the DRHP has been submitted... Like we reported back on August 23, it's a pure OFS ( offer for sale) - 3.2 cr equity shares with no fresh issue component.. PE Multiples Group, Ambuja Cement founder Narotam Satyanarayan Sekhsaria, RBL Bank & Easyaccess Financial Services are the selling investors.. Very interesting scenario where an investment bank which has advised firms on 25 odd IPOs is now coming out with its own IPO:) ..let's see how the valuations play out in this case.. Gujarat outshines Maharashtra in per capita income, logs 160% Historically, Maharashtra has led India’s economic growth with the largest share of the country’s GDP for decades. However, recent data published in working paper titled ‘Relative Economic Performance of Indian States: 1960-61 to 2023-24’ by Sanjeev Sanyal Aakanksha Arora and published by Economic Advisory Committee to the PM highlights a dramatic rise in Gujarat’s economic stature, culminating in a per capita income of 160.7 per cent of the national average in 2023-24, surpassing Maharashtra’s 150 per cent. The Rise of Gujarat From 2000-01 to 2023-24, Gujarat’s share of India’s GDP steadily grew from 6.4 per cent to 8.1 per cent. In fact, Gujarat’s per capita income growth story is remarkable. Initially trailing behind Maharashtra in the 1960s, with a relative per capita income of 118.3 per cent compared to Maharashtra’s 133.7 per cent, Gujarat’s economy began to accelerate in the early 2000s. By 2010-11, Gujarat had outpaced Maharashtra, and the gap has continued to widen ever since. This significant leap has resulted in a shift in the economic balance, making Gujarat one of the most prosperous states in India. In 2020-21 and 2023-24 Gujarat left Maharashtra far behind in the race of per capita income. Interestingly, the last ten years BJP’s Devendra Fadnavis was Maharashtra Chief Minister for five years from 2014 -2019, Shiv Sena’s Uddhav Thackeray from 2019 to 2022 and BJP supported Shiv Sena’s ( Shinde faction) Eknath Shinde from 2022 to till date. Maharashtra’s Economic Challenge Despite Maharashtra’s historical dominance in contributing to the nation’s GDP, the state has seen its economic momentum slow down in recent years. While it continues to have the highest share of India’s GDP, its per capita income growth has not kept pace with Gujarat’s rapid rise. From the 1960s to the early 2000s, Maharashtra’s relative per capita income maintained a commanding lead, but that trajectory has shifted. The state’s growth has plateaued, and its relative per capita income now stands at 150 percent of the national average, significantly lagging behind Gujarat. Sebi has slapped penalties totalling ₹11.90 crore on 19 entities and also barred them from the securities market for up to five years for indulging in a pump and dump scheme in the shares Superior Finlease Ltd (SFL). Rajneesh Kumar, a shareholder-director of SFL and the mastermind behind the scheme, first manipulated the price of the scrip and thereafter, utilising the services of certain 'operators', offloaded the shares of the company at an inflated price to unsuspecting public investors. This should serve as a warning to all those investing in the market based on tips received on WhatsApp because in this particular case telegram channels were used to disseminate messages to unsuspecting investors.
