SAP S/4HANA is a robust enterprise resource planning (ERP) system designed to support a wide range of industries, but it may face some challenges in the metal manufacturing sector due to several factors: 1. Industry-Specific Customization Complex Production Processes: Metal manufacturing often involves highly specialized processes, such as melting, rolling, extrusion, which require precise control over material handling, production sequencing, and shop floor automation. SAP S/4HANA's standard configurations may not be granular enough for some of these complex processes without significant customization. Unique Requirements: Specific needs like metallurgical analysis, quality control for alloys, or scrap handling, WIP might not be fully addressed in the standard system. 2. Shop Floor Integration Legacy Systems: Many metal manufacturers still rely on custom-built, legacy systems or proprietary MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) that are deeply integrated into their shop floor operations. Integrating these systems with SAP S/4HANA can be challenging and require significant investment in middleware or custom development. Real-Time Data: Metal manufacturing often demands real-time monitoring and precise control over heavy machinery, which might not be easily integrated with SAP’s standard IoT and automation features without significant configuration. 3. This is where positive and negative testing comes into play, helping to verify whether the role functions as intended. #Positive_Testing: In positive testing, the goal is to confirm that the role provides the necessary access as expected. After creating a role: * Log in with a user assigned to this role. * Perform the tasks and transactions for which the role is designed. * Check that all authorized actions are successfully executed. #Example_Use_Case: If a role grants access to display sales orders, the user should be able to access the transaction #VA03 and display the required orders without issues. #Negative_Testing: Negative testing ensures that the user cannot perform actions that are not authorized. It is equally important to confirm what the role should **not** allow. - Attempt to access unauthorized transactions or data. - Try to perform restricted actions that fall outside the scope of the role. #Example_Use_Case: If the role does not grant access to change sales orders, the user should be restricted from using **VA02** to modify orders.
