Vinay Paharia : Investors should be very careful to not extrapolate past trends while engaging in investing, especially in current market environment. Pavlovian conditioning of investors ensures that every dip gets bought into. However, the results of such investing activity may not produce the desired outcomes, especially if held for short to medium term. Vivek Sharma : The markets have seen correction in mid and small cap space, where there is excess exuberance and valuations were unsustainable. Markets seem to have assigned high valuations to cyclical and slow growing companies and now there is some reality check. Further correction in pockets where earnings are not sustainable is not ruled out. 1. Hyundai Motors IPO Hyundai Motors is set to launch the largest Initial Public Offering (IPO) in India's history, with an estimated issue size of approximately $3 billion. This landmark IPO will position Hyundai Motors as a significant player in the Indian automotive market and beyond. The company has already received the necessary regulatory approval from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), indicating strong institutional support and compliance with the regulatory framework. Reports suggest that the IPO is likely to be launched in October, and it has generated substantial interest among both retail and institutional investors. The proceeds from this IPO are expected to be used for expansion plans, research and development, and potentially to strengthen Hyundai's position in the rapidly evolving electric vehicle market in India. This IPO could set a new benchmark in terms of scale and investor participation in the Indian equity market. 2. NTPC Green Energy IPO NTPC Green Energy, the renewable energy subsidiary of the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), is preparing to launch an IPO valued at ₹10,000 crores in November. As a ‘Maharatna’ public sector enterprise, NTPC has a strong legacy in the Indian power sector, and this IPO marks its ambitious entry into the renewable energy space. NTPC Green Energy's portfolio includes a wide range of renewable energy assets such as solar and wind power projects, spread across more than six states in India. This IPO is a significant step towards achieving India's renewable energy targets and reducing the carbon footprint of its power sector. The funds raised through this IPO will likely be used to expand NTPC Green Energy's portfolio, invest in new technologies, and scale up existing projects. Given the global and domestic push towards clean energy. 3. Afcons Infrastructure IPO Afcons Infrastructure, a leading player in the infrastructure and construction sector in India, is set to go public. A part of the Shapoorji Pallonji Group, Afcons has a robust portfolio of projects, including complex infrastructure assignments in roads, bridges, metro rail systems, ports, and marine infrastructure. As of Sep 30, 2023, the company reported a strong order book of ₹34,888 crores, with over 68% of these projects sourced from the government sector. This highlights Afcons' strategic alignment with government priorities in infrastructure development. The company has demonstrated consistent financial performance with a debt-to-equity ratio of less than 1, indicating prudent financial management and a stable capital structure. Additionally, Afcons has reported a commendable revenue growth of 15% year-on-year, reflecting its operational efficiency and capacity to execute large-scale projects. The proceeds from this IPO are expected to be utilized for reducing debt, funding working capital requirements, and further expansion into new infrastructure segments. Strategic Advisor: He served as a strategic advisor to the Pandavas, offering counsel on various matters including war strategy and diplomatic negotiations, akin to a management consultant or a mentor guiding executives. Conflict Resolution: Krishna played a crucial role in resolving conflicts, both within the Pandava camp and with external parties. In corporate settings, conflict resolution skills are highly valued among leaders and managers. Ethical Decision Making: Throughout the Mahabharata, Krishna emphasized the importance of dharma (righteousness) and ethical decision-making. In the corporate world, ethical leadership is essential for maintaining trust and integrity. Risk Management: Krishna provided insights into risk management, helping the Pandavas navigate through challenging situations and make calculated decisions, similar to how risk management experts advise companies on mitigating risks. Team Building and Collaboration: He fostered unity among diverse groups within the Pandava camp, promoting teamwork and collaboration essential for success in corporate environments. RBI Governor “walks the talk” on managing inflation as their key priority, yet again! The policy rate was kept unchanged, although the stance was changed to “Neutral”. His oft repeated statement was, “unambiguously focused on durable alignment of inflation with target, while supporting growth”; signaling clearly that any future rate cut would depend upon the inflation trajectory trending downwards. The Governor’s comfort for the change in stance seemingly stemmed from India’s growth story remaining intact; with private investment & consumption as well as Govt capex expected to pick up in H2, a stronger kharif output & rabi sowing due to a good monsoon lending to a pick-up in rural demand, and a resilient CAD & forex position keeping the INR steady. Hence, he retained the current year GDP growth target at 7.2%, while mentioning that adverse weather conditions and/or accentuated geopolitical conflicts could lead to downside risks for the economy.
