Live isn’t like Video on Demand (VOD). It demands real-time encoding, ultra-low latency, and the ability to scale instantly. One glitch feels magnified when it’s happening live. Netflix’s struggles highlight that even the best are still figuring it out. The real fight isn’t just in the ring; it’s in the backend—where ops teams and engineers battle to keep streams alive. Interesting pointers for offline retailers to stay relevant to the today's customers in India having evolving buying behavior and retail channel preference basis different context. What struck me was the following 1) Consumers today need a social media post worthy built consuming experience. That the 1st thing they look at .. food /merchandise experience is secondary. 2) Consumers today seek and are willing to pay for experiences rather than just product anymore. 3) Customers today want to drive their passion or curiosity and are will to pay to learn first and then romance the product and mastery journey. 4) Customers today want to stand out in the crowd and be appreciate for their unique identity. They will seek out brands / products and reward brands that empower them to co-create products for themselves. 5) Customer today are giving personal data including preferences, their locations and feedback and expecting faster responses and more personalized and immersive experiences through combination of tech and human interactions. Moving from merchandise lead shopping experience to experiential lead shopping experiences. This is even more prominently expected in offline retailing. A silent revolution is happening in the e-commerce space. The quick commerce majors, BigBasket, Blinkit and others, have started delivering the latest iPhone 16 in a record time of 7 to 15 minutes. This is a major attack on traditional e-commerce players, whose almost half revenues come from handsets. Is this the moment that triggers everything towards Q-Commerce? Most #D2C businesses are still not profitable! About 80% of them haven't reached #profitability yet, and 63% aren't profitable at all. Only 12% of D2C businesses have reported being profitable, while 25% don't measure profitability because they're part of larger ecosystems.

In 2014, India's average data consumption per user was just 0.3 GB/month at ₹269/GB. Today, thanks to Modi Govt's push and players like Jio, users consume 30.3 GB/month at ₹10-13/GB. Remember when we rationed data usage to stretch it for a month? Now, everyone's a legal expert, taxation guru, election analyst, military strategist and more! 😆 We've come a long way from just worrying about onion and tomato prices to debating complex tax issues like Indexation. Heads Up! Fake Courier Scam Targeting Indian Users A recent scam targeting Indian users impersonates well-known courier companies like FedEx and DHL. Here's how it works (similar to the one described in https://lnkd.in/gNhRNPUj): - You receive a call claiming to be from a courier company. - They inform you of a package linked to your phone number containing illegal items. (They often mention Mumbai and Singapore in their script.) - They pressure you by mentioning involvement of law enforcement. Remember, this is a scam! Here's how to protect yourself: - Don't engage. Don't confirm personal details or provide any information. - Ask for specifics. Legitimate courier companies can provide details like tracking numbers, labels, service levels, sender/recipient addresses, etc. Scammers will struggle with these details. - End the call.
