Price the Customer’s Journey, Not Just Services - {design}think about your pricing as an evolving process that aligns with where your customers are on their journey Designing a pricing narrative is a competitive advantage for services businesses including CX, SaaS, and data services. I recommend it as a part of my UX Strategy. 3 ways to improve on your pricing narrative 1. Support your customers as they grow instead of static pricing tiers. For example - "I need help setting up..." - "I've X and now I need help with Y..." - "I'm using this and need to build further..." - "I need custom solutions..." Compare this with generic tiers like - Basic - Premium - Gold 2. Current stage of your customer demands different services than future stage. Show value to the client's specific stage. 3. Show that your customer can buy two stages of the journey together. Imagine your customer says "I need help setting up this..." once it's done, they will move to "I need help expanding on this..." Anticipate that need and offer them two packages with an incentive. This encourages them to take next step with you. How do you {design}think pricing to align with your customers’ evolving needs?

We sometimes get excited about giving a website a fresh new look. But redesigning before understanding user needs is like throwing on a new outfit without checking if the old one still fits. That being said, aesthetics do matter (Aesthetics-Usability Effect, hello!). However, wouldn't it be smarter to figure out what's working and what's causing problems for your users first? To start with, UX audits are your secret weapon, they can be conducted using various tools, and Guidesight is a strong option. It digs deeper than the surface, uncovering hidden usability issues like confusing navigation, unclear calls to action, and slow loading times – things a pretty redesign might not fix.

A fun design exercise over the weekend that took me back to Information Hierarchy exercises back at IIT. Riffed off a design exercise by Abdussalam Popoola to redesign a mobile e-ticket for trains (presumably in the UK). ____ Roughly speaking, here's what I did: 1/ Chunked data into 4 groups in the following order of importance: Departure details, Route details, Seat details and ticket details. 2/ Created hierarchies within sub groups. For example, the time of departure would be forgotten more easily and hence is more important than the date of departure, especially for train staff. 3/ Added affordances for downloading the ticket and sharing the ticket via socials. ___ Different from Abdussalam's original work in the following ways: 1/ Afforded less prominence to QR code than route details. Also kept the ticket number since QR readers may occasionally fail. 2/ Chunked platform number with departure details. Kept certain other details such as route code, changed copy for gate to platform. 3/ Generous margins, more whitespace to create focus around chunks. Most designers are either efficient or effective. After spending 4 years in the design space, here’s why you need someone with both of these skills to run a successful agency! Let me explain: -> To be an effective designer, you need to dive deep into solving problems and aligning designs with the brand’s vision, competitor and audience. -> On the other hand, to be an efficient designer means accomplishing tasks with minimal time, resources, and effort. It’s about delivering high-quality results within deadlines. To give you an example: Last month, we worked on a client who wants 100 reels per 24 hours in 7 days. → My husband and I took the lead on the concepts, immersing ourselves in the brand’s vision, target audience, and client goals. (This is where we focused on being effective designers.) → Then, our team, armed with all the information and resources, took over the execution and delivered the designs in the required timeframe. (This is where their efficiency as designers shines.) The result? Our client didn't just get designs - they got solutions that understood their audience, reflected their values, and solved their business challenges. This approach taught me something valuable about design effectiveness and efficiency. It’s not always about how many designs you can create - it's about how many problems you can solve. When we focus on quantity over quality, we risk missing crucial details. A rushed design might look good at first glance, but will it still resonate with the target audience 6 months later? At our agency, we measure success not by the number of concepts we deliver, but by the impact each design creates for our clients.
