It became imperative to bring back passengers confidence to travel by Air by putting in place host of government mandated and International body (ICAO / IATA) mandated safety measures like use of…

    Aviation Industry was the hardest hit In the midst of pandemic created due to Covid-19; International Travel and Domestic Air travel has come to grinding halt across the Globe on 24th of March, 2020. Total Lock down across the globe created brought Aviation Industry player on the brink of bankruptcy. It became imperative to bring back passengers confidence to travel by Air by putting in place host of government mandated and International body (ICAO / IATA) mandated safety measures like use of disinfectant, use of PPE, maintaining Social Distancing etc.
    Then came the idea of setting up Covid Testing lab in the Airport premises so as to facilitate safe passengers across places across countries / states etc.

    Delhi's IGI Airport becomes first Indian airport to have on-site Covid test lab. DIAL has collaborated with Genestrings Diagnostic Centre, a Delhi-based reputed laboratory, which is currently associated with Delhi government to test COVID-19 samples.
    The Lab in the Airport is built in 3500 square feet area at multi-level car parking (MLCP) of Terminal 3 of the IGIA. Dr. Gauri and her team has worked with lot of energy and set up the lab in record time.

    Results of samples collected at the sample collection kiosks will be declared within 4-6 hours to the incoming passengers. Until the results are confirmed, passengers will be isolated at the waiting lounge or may opt to stay in a hotel.

    This project has been completed in a record time of less than 20 days, the lab has been set up in the MLCP 4th Floor in flat 12 days including certification and approval from NABL and ICMR

    This project goes a long way in reposing passengers confidence on Air Travel and bring back the Industry on rails. This is a unique project in the sense that RTPCR tests at Airport itself has provided tremendous benefit to the aviation community inlcuding passengers, airlines, employees etc.

    Tata Steel acquired a Chrome asset (34 Sqkm Area) from Iranian Government Company, Esfandageh Mining Company in 2004. I was selected by the then Managing Director of Tata Steel, Mr. B Muthuraman to lead the project. Mr. P Roy, the then EIC, FA&MD has recommended my name to MD to lead the business in Iran.

    The production was stopped when I took over and immediately focussed on restarting the mine by taking of the immediate safety measures in the tunnel and other areas like haul road preparation and inspection. Then started shipment of the product to China through Bandar Abbas thereby gradually getting confidence among the employees.
    Started the due diligence and understanding of the the business process; Prepare program management plan, ramping up the exisiting infrastructure, setting up the Systems, processes in a new environment in line with the overall company's goal / objective, formation of JVs; mobilizing resources; short term cash flow, management of working capital, running the business and at the same time focussing on the long term plan of capacity enhancement (geophysical and geological studies), capital requirements etc.
    Complete turnaround of the mine in the 2nd year itself, started generating cash and becoming self reliant.
