Every Exit is an Entry Elsewhere By Tom Stoppard Tom Stoppard’s quote, “Every exit is an entry elsewhere,” speaks to the inevitable cycles of change in our lives. This perspective suggests that endings are not finite but are rather transitions that open new doors and present fresh opportunities. When we face change—whether in relationships, careers, or personal pursuits—there’s often a sense of loss or finality. Yet, Stoppard’s words remind us that each ending is the beginning of something else, even if it’s unknown. What may seem like an abrupt halt or disappointment can ultimately lead to growth, discovery, and new directions. For example, leaving a familiar job or moving to a new city might feel daunting, but such changes offer us the chance to redefine ourselves and build experiences we might not have had otherwise. In the same vein, every personal or professional “exit” gives us the freedom to explore the unknown and, often, to find something that aligns more closely with who we are becoming. In essence, Stoppard’s words encourage us to view life’s transitions with optimism and curiosity. Every closed chapter paves the way for a new narrative, inviting us to embrace the constant flow of exits and entries that shape our journey.

Recently, while having a quick chat with my CEO Vibhav Agarwal, he mentioned this book - The Courage to Be Disliked by Fumitake Koga and Ichiro Kishimi prompting me to revisit it and wow—what an eye-opener, again! Dr Sanjeev Dixit’s “soul of a monk” series It is often said and highlighted that “ Failure is stepping stone for success” which is true provided one is learning from his/her failure insightfully and instinctively. Even reverse is also true. I quote “ Success is invisible trap towards epic failure”. What I mean here is and I have seen as well in my corporate and normal life that once a SUCCESS is achieved through a particular method & style , the assumption and fake sense is built that same methods will again earn similar or bigger success but doesn’t happen as any method and style to achieve successful outcome is CONTEXTUAL which people forget in the euphoria of celebrating short lived success. That is what I call INVISIBLE TRAP which leads to EPIC FAILURE. We all should be mindful about this to ensure that success might be short lived but learning & insights derived from it is lifelong More than SUCCESS, FAILURE is liberating because it pushes us to try new things and allow us to build inherent tolerance & humility to commit mistakes. Success on other hand is like a slavery of self consciousness that how to now sustain it by all means closing many doors of experimentation and unconventional approaches.
