The market value is projected to reach 𝘜𝘚𝘋 𝟭𝟲𝟭.𝟴𝟲 billion by 2030.   👇Below are the top reasons why people are scared to choose the embedded industry as their first choice.   𝙀𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙮 𝙇𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙡 𝘽𝙖𝙧𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙧: Initially I guess most of the working individuals would have felt the same. To get a job in core electronics is not easy even after being from circuital branches as during an interview you need to be thorough with embedded_c or c++, microcontrollers, Linux, Qt, Core electronics, and many more such topics.   𝙋𝙖𝙮 𝙎𝙘𝙖𝙡𝙚: If you haven't graduated from the University of Michigan or Oakland from the US or Europe and I guess it is mostly NO 😊 then yes the initial salary is not as competitive as in other industries like IT, etc.   𝙈𝙖𝙣𝙪𝙖𝙡 𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣: In most cases, embedded projects do require the workforce to be present at the office, now and then and you have to face issues in terms of hardware or lab setup, etc.   𝙀𝙭𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙨𝙚-𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙙: Even if you have 10+ years of experience in the embedded industry still you can't be an expert it's an industry where in need the idea given by a newbie would work out 😏 and not yours. Even experienced people need to evolve and grow their technical knowledge always.   𝗡𝗢𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡: Ideally, it's my belief and an individual choice that after putting at least 4 years of life into circuital branches and then without trying once for the industry you prepared yourself for would be Ignorance of your circuital branch degree and knowledge. Even though the industry is tough to crack but is Rewarding as well.   𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗖𝗟𝗨𝗦𝗜𝗢𝗡: Put in simple terms, Embedded is hard and prepares you to become someone with knowledge and stuff related to the core area. Functional Safety Know How Part 1   According to ISO 26262 ,if the embedded software consists of software components with different ASIL ratings then either Entire software must be developed according to the Highest ASIL. Freedom From Interference(FFI) shall be ensured for software components which means Software components with different ASIL should not interfere with respect to Memory ,Timing and Communication aspects.   The ISO26262 standard talks about Freedom From Interference between Software Components of different ASIL ratings. However, freedom from interference between Software Components of the same ASIL rating is not required by the standard.   Let's discussion more about FFI from Memory.  RTE ,OS and Hardware(MPU) support are required to implement Memory partitioning . Why FFI from Memory Software Components which are developed according to a low ASIL rating may interfere by wrongfully accessing memory regions of software components with a higher ASIL rating .which may Corrupt the data of Higher ASIL   How to achieve FFI from Memory FFI can be achieved by Memory Partitioning. Memory Partitioning provides protection by means of restricting access to memory and memory-mapped hardware. Memory Partitioning means that OS-Applications(Software Components) reside in different memory areas (partitions)are protected from each other. Meaning code executing in one partition cannot modify memory(restricting write access but allow read access) of a different partition.   Let's consider a scenario in which two components with different ASIL required to exchange data. Since to achieve the FFI as ISO 26262 , memory partitioning is implemented . Meaning different ASIL components are placed in different memory areas which are protected from each other and not allowed to modify each other memory. RTE solve this problem by implementing Inter-partition Sender/Receiver communication as describe in below image.
