Changing the default startup output mode to DC on the Martindale PD690SRD Proving Unit. 1. Press AC/DC button (and keep it pressed) on the desired output range. The LEDs will change to indicate the new output mode 2. Release push button when the LED stops flashing (after about 3 seconds) 3. The default output mode is now set to DC.

#PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) is a method used to generate variable voltage levels by switching the output on and off at a fast rate. It's commonly used in electronics to control devices like motors, LEDs, and speakers. 🔵 How PWM Works: PWM works by varying the ratio of time the signal is on (high) to the time it is off (low) over a fixed period, called the period. The ratio of on-time to the period is called the duty cycle. By changing the duty cycle, you can effectively change the average voltage or power delivered to a device. 🔵 Calculating PWM: To calculate the PWM signal's frequency and duty cycle, you need to know the desired output frequency and the PWM resolution (the number of steps in the PWM cycle). The duty cycle is then calculated as the number of steps the signal is on divided by the total number of steps in the cycle. The frequency is determined by the frequency of the clock driving the PWM module and the resolution. 🔵 Applications of PWM: 🔷 Motor Speed Control: PWM is widely used in motor speed control applications. By varying the duty cycle of the PWM signal, you can control the average voltage applied to the motor, thus controlling its speed. 🔷 LED Brightness Control: PWM is used to control the brightness of LEDs. The human eye averages the light intensity over time, so rapidly switching the LED on and off with PWM can create the illusion of varying brightness levels.  🔷 Audio Amplification: In audio applications, PWM is used in class D amplifiers to convert audio signals into PWM signals, which are then amplified and filtered to reproduce the audio signal. 𝗜 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗜𝗖 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗣𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗖𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁: Here are few lessons I learnt during this design process: 𝗟𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝟭. 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗿𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹: Even when selecting capacitors i made sure that I consider factors like voltages rating, operating conditions etc. 𝗟𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝟮. 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: Here i made sure that i calculated the total power that is required by each IC, for proper power distribution. This is very needful in all designs. 𝗟𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝟯. 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗲𝘁: Searching online for reference circuit without reading the datasheet on each component to note there function can cause design failure most times. I was made sure each component i selected in my design i checked the manufacturers manual. 𝗜𝗳 𝗜 𝗮𝗱𝗱 𝗮 𝟭𝟬𝘂𝗙 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗶r𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗶𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝗢𝗸.
