Healthtech startup Orange Health has raised $12 Mn (INR 101.5 Cr) in an undisclosed funding round led by Amazon Smbhav Venture Fund👇 The round also saw participation from a host of existing investors, including Accel, General Catalyst, Bertelsmann India Investments and Y Combinator. The Bengaluru-based company plans to use the fresh capital to grow its team, product expansion and drive further innovation in diagnostics. Orange Health’s latest round takes its total funding round to $47 Mn till date. Founded in 2020 by Gupta and Bhambra, Orange Health is an on-demand diagnostics service provider. It competes with the likes of Practo, Redcliffe Labs and PharmEasy in India. I came across an interesting product - Mitt Arv. They are a digital will company that helps users to share details about their assets with their loved ones and also, leave them with an emotional will (texts, audios, videos) that can be delivered to them after the user's demise. The asset vault can have a list of all the Assets ( details of bank accounts, securities, jewelry etc) that users can share with confidants and choose when to release it these confidants ( real time or posthumously). Basically enables the family/confidants to have access to data. It is not a legally binding will. Super impressed with the idea. However, when I talked to my 17 year old cousin about this to see if this excites her, she said " Who plans for death? I would be happy if I could plan for dinner tonight". But my uncle was super excited about this. He said, not just after death, even when alive, family members should have access to asset data to know their financial condition as a family and also, for emergencies. Two generations, two thoughts. While the product is solving a problem that exists even for the younger generation, but they are not aware of the problem in itself. The preference of GenZ differs starkly from the generation above us. While GenZ is living in the moment, some recent reports suggest contrarily that it is GenZ who is more financially informed to save for tomorrow than Millennials or any generation before them were ever. Paradoxical, isn't it? Would love to talk to people who are building Fintechs for GenZs and understand what is the core value proposition that excites this segment.
