Hyderabad-based startup 'Abyom Space' has concluded its 150+ test Battleship Engine Testing Series to develop India's first reusable rocket. The rocket uses traditional liquid fuel Ethanol and operates on a Pressure-Fed Cycle. The agri drone story of India By RR, Investor and Mentor to AvironiX Drones, Vayu Drone Services, and Magnipower Technology LLP Chapter 1 The emergence of agricultural drones in India A year after the introduction of the new drone policy in 2021, we witnessed a rise in agricultural drones built from standard 10-liter frames, turning them into almost commodity products. The industry faced a critical choice: follow the trend of using generic frame kits, or develop a product specifically tailored to the unique requirements of our sector. Companies like DJI and XAG in China have their own ranges, such as DJI's Agras T20, T40, and T50, with capacities from 20 to 50 liters. This raises the question: 'What does Indian agriculture truly need?' I embarked on a mission to gather insights directly from the fields, engaging with farmers, CII, NABARD, FMTTI, agri-chemical companies, agronomists, agricultural industry experts, and universities, rather than relying on drone sellers. I also analyzed manual and boom sprayers, considering their economic impact and potential health risks, as well as labor availability issues. It was a privilege to get a chance to speak about the drone and counter -drone industry during the East Tech Conf 2024 in Kolkata on 05 Nov... 1. Drone industry will be 11 Billion USD by 2030 led by Agriculture, Logistics, Defence & Public Safety verticals. It will help generate 5 lacs direct and indirect jobs. 2. The industry has to move from pure manufacturing to DaaS to data management of data generated from drones- make it intelligent. 3. We need to ponder over the following questions, as the answer to them will dictate India's strategy for drones in future... a) Do we want to move away from anything and everything Chinese? b) Do we want to have everything Indian ONLY? c) Do we want to have major portion of technology to be Indian, allow Chinese tech but plug the vulnerabilities? 4. The industry is not motivated to to support the anti- drone vertical as the goal post keeps shifting within the various users and there is too much delay in decision making. 5. It is suggested that the QRs for various users- BSF/ Army/ CISF/ SPG etc be fixed ASAP so that the industry can develop the system to those QRs which can be reviewed after 24 months, if required.
