2 years to make $10.49 On Youtube. Talking About Working IT In Japan. I started making low budget youtube videos about working IT in Japan over the past 2 years with no idea who will watch or if there was any value in what I was doing. While doing this I would give advice for devs for free though online meetings, discord or Linkedin chat. Since then the ROI has been $0. I work as a freelance frontend dev, which pays quite well compared to the average worker, so i'm not doing this to make money. The niche is way too small to get big. With over 70k foreign IT workers in Japan and the increase of devs wanting to move to Japan (Weak Yen though?) I predict my channel will peak at around 10k subs. My last video is got over 4.5K views. RPM at $1.78 Which is where the chunk of that revenue comes from ($7.94). 2.2k subs and on average each video get's over 1.5k views. This is a long grind and seeing something like this does make me feel like I'm doing something right. Here are my current numbers: Linkedin: 1,225 followers (I started with under 200) Youtube: 2,225 subs Discord: 395 members I have no idea what I'm doing. Let's just go with the flow.

Roshan, I got a job but I am stuck in my current role, how do I get promoted. Most of you guys might be in similar situation, I am sharing some of my experience with respect to promotions. 1. Promotion is not something that you should aim for at the first place, you should aim for consistent demonstration of the roles and responsibilities of next role. 2. Read and understand what is expected out of a candidate who are in the next role and consistently perform or exceed those expectations. 3. Build trust among the team by becoming a SME for atleast one system your team owns. People should reach out to you for any clarification or issues they may have. 4. Identify gaps in your existing systems and work on a project which involves intensive stakeholders collaboration, design, disambiguation and ensure your work is in production. Measure the impact of your work via metrics. 5. Maintain a good relationship with your peers, sister teams and leadership. Have a good visibility of your work by consistently sharing your learnings, thoughts, process improvements, gaps in existing systems, solutions for them etc. 6. Have an experienced Mentor. They play a very crucial role in your promotion and help you with documentation, process, guidance etc. 7. Improve your document writing skills. During your promotion you will have to write a lot. Keep a track of your work done and build narrative like - We had a problem “A”, so I collaborated with “B” stakeholders and came up with “C” solutions, I then convinced and had my solution reviewed with “D” Sr. Engineers in the team, post which I deployed the solution in production and measured the impact on “E” customers and shared the metrics with the leadership. 8. Remember, promotions requires consistently performing at next role, also if your org or team doesn’t have enough opportunities then reconsider switching teams. #roshan #promotions #amazon

Hi Connections, Before joining Boltzmann Labs, I had the opportunity to interview with Uber for a Software Engineer 1 position. I wanted to share a brief overview of my interview experience for those who might find it helpful. Online Assessment (OA) Round: I faced 4 questions ranging from LeetCode medium to hard levels. Technical Round 1(45 mins): Prefix, Suffix Array - Leetcode medium Follow-up: MultiSource BFS, similar to Leetcode 1162. System Design Round(45 mins): I tackled a problem similar to Leetcode 1472. Hiring Manager (HM) Round(25 mins): The discussion primarily revolved around my past projects and behavioral questions. Afterward, the hiring manager presented a problem similar to Leetcode 33. Unfortunately, I wasn't selected as they found a candidate who was a better fit for the role. However, the experience was incredibly valuable, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to have interviewed with such a prestigious company. Although I usually prefer articles for time efficiency, I found the playlist's explanations to be clear and concise. I felt really low and found myself overthinking about outcomes, which significantly impacted my productivity and energy levels. Preparation for Google Interview Day #7 Literally, 2 days to solve this => Reverse Linked List II But Hard work paid off. My Approach: Initialize Pointers: Create a dummy node pointing to the head of the list. Traverse the list to reach the starting position of the subarray to be reversed, maintaining pointers to the nodes just before and at the start of the subarray. Reverse the Subarray: Reverse the subarray by iterating from the start to the end position. Adjust the next pointers in each iteration to reverse the direction of the subarray nodes. Reconnect the Subarray: After reversing, reconnect the reversed subarray with the rest of the list by updating the next pointers of the nodes just before the start and at the end of the reversed subarray. DBS bank senior frontend interview experience I recently had a unique and challenging interview experience with DBS Bank that turned out to be quite enriching. The process began with a hiring drive organized by DBS, which I learned about through a Naukri consultancy. The interview process consisted of three rounds: Online Assessment Round: - The first round was an online assessment that included multiple-choice questions covering JavaScript, React, HTML, and CSS. - There was also a coding question based on the two-pointers pattern and a React-based task to fetch transactions from an API and display them using infinite scrolling. - one dsa probem related to 2 pointers pattern problem - This round lasted one and a half hours, and I was able to complete the assignment on time. Fortunately, I passed this round. Result: pass Hackathon Round: - The second round was an offline hackathon that required us to attend in person at the office. - We were given a problem statement and had three hours to implement a solution. - It was an intense and challenging experience. Although I couldn’t fully complete the app, I managed to finish around 80% of it. - The pressure was high, as candidates were being eliminated if they were observed struggling midway through the challenge. By the end, only five of us were left. Technical and Managerial Round: - However, there was still one more round—a technical and managerial interview. - This round involved a deep dive into my previous projects, including personal ones, and I faced numerous questions about React optimization, design patterns, security, and deployment strategies. - Despite my efforts, I didn’t make it through this final round. Result: fail In the end, I wasn’t selected for the role, but the experience was invaluable. The hackathon, in particular, was a highlight, pushing me to my limits and teaching me a lot along the way. I prepared from frontend material I had created from past experiences and have now updated it with insights from latest interviews. Most technical questions are represented from that material itself.
