****Beware of CFD "Influencers" on LinkedIn**** ****A Warning to Aspiring Students**** Recently, a disturbing trend has emerged on LinkedIn—self-proclaimed influencers in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) promoting "wanna be CFD" courses for aspiring engineers, but at a significant personal profit. Some of these influencers charge upwards of $100 per course, or take a 50% cut from total sales, and unfortunately, this is little more than a get-rich-quick scheme disguised as education. ****Why is This Dishonest?**** Lack of Transparency: Many of these influencers market themselves as industry experts without showcasing real credentials or proven CFD experience. The pricing model is often hidden, and students only discover the hefty fees after investing their time and attention. Misleading Aspirants: These individuals prey on the enthusiasm and ambition of young engineers or professionals looking to build skills in CFD. The promise of exclusive knowledge is often paired with flashy marketing, but the actual content rarely justifies the high costs. Unproven Course Quality: Charging $100 per course or claiming 50% of total sales implies that the focus is more on profit than providing real value to students. Altair physicsAI to construct a surrogate AI/ML model for rockfall analysis on a building. Using Radioss, analysis results were generated for several patterns by varying the collision position of falling rocks and utilized these to train the physicsAI. Prediction of physicsAI for new collision patterns and Radioss' trends are generally in agreement. In general, a large amount of training data is required to build a prediction model, but physicsAI can predict the distribution of three-dimensional physical quantities just by learning the analysis results of several patterns, making it easier to build a prediction model than conventional methods. In addition, physicsAI can make predictions in a few seconds, so the analysis time can be greatly compressed, and more analysis patterns can be considered. By using physicsAI, it is possible to easily introduce AI for building soundness evaluation in simulations. Residuals are important, but they are also deceptive. If we disable limiters, we can get 1E-12 residuals for a 2nd order accurate simulation, but the solution will be wrong, because it will be filled with oscillations near discontinuities. We should not trust residuals on their own.

Brep Vs Visrep🤔 Brep refers to Boundary Representation. As the name suggests, the boundary between solid and non-solid geometry is in view here, the solid geometry being a collection of interconnected surfaces. This is a mathematically precise representation of geometry. Brep formats include all native CAD formats: CATIA’s CATPart and CATProduct, NX’s prt, Solid Edge’s par and asm, Creo’s prt and asm, the SOLIDWORKS sldprt and sldasm, Inventor’s ipt and iam, and AutoCad’s dwg. Brep formats would also include geometric modeling kernel formats such as Creo’s granite, Siemens’ Parasolid, Dassault’s ACIS, Autodesk’s ACIS-derived ‘ShapeManager’ and the Solid Modeling Solutions (SMS) kernel, and neutral formats such as STEP and IGES. Brep Benefits: You can easily convert the model to other Brep formats for collaboration purposes. You can interrogate the model for mass properties. You can get surface area and material data. The model can support Model Based Definition (MBD) and Product Manufacturing Information (PMI) metadata. You can often perform boolean operations on Brep models. You can easily measure and dimension Brep models. Visrep refers to visual representation. Visrep models are approximations of CAD or other geometry, and are polygonal in nature, containing no true CAD data. Polygonal models are composed of a mass of flat polygons; where a Brep model may have curved faces, such as on a cylinder, a polygonal model will use flat polygons to describe the same geometry. Visrep formats include Obj, STL, 3D XML, 3D PDF, Collada (dae) and PLY. Benefits of Visrep: Visrep models are usually smaller than CAD models because they do not have to contain as much structural information and metadata such as PMI. Of course, this depends on the resolution of the polygonal model, because they can be saved at different resolutions. The benefits of Visrep models include: Often, the purpose of the Visrep format is simple part or assembly visualization; users may want to see the entire car, airplane, robot or assembly line as a complete unit, something that is doable with a Visrep format but impossible to do with a full-blown CAD Brep file. In some cases, polygonal formats such as STL can actually be used for machining. STL files are the predominant choice for 3D Printing. Polygonal models are useful for the ‘entertainment and the arts’ sector, for animation, 3D modeling, game development, virtual reality and augmented reality. How a the CFD/CAE analyst gain certifications and practice if the software are so expensive? Many simulation software companies offer student versions or trial licenses for learning purposes. Additionally, academic institutions often provide access to these tools for students enrolled in relevant courses. Open-source software like OpenFOAM also provides an avenue for learning without cost barriers. Furthermore, some companies may invest in software licenses for employee training or provide access to training resources as part of professional development initiatives. Additionally, online courses, tutorials, and communities offer valuable resources for self-learning and skill development in CFD and CAE. . . Everyone is asking for experience of atleast two years in this field. How can a fresher begin his journey in this space? Fresher can begin by gaining hands-on experience through internships, co-op programs, or entry-level positions in companies that utilize CFD and CAE tools.
