The PPWs charged by freelance writers are strange and confusing. I reach out to around 10 new freelance writers every week to pitch a project. Yes, I pitch the project to them based on THEIR expertise. Their extensive experience and portfolio helps me in this regard - which is why I reach out to a particular writer for a particular project, rather than just taking any conversation ahead randomly. Now, the issue lies here. One freelance writer, with impeccable writing skills, says that her charges are 0.50 ppw. Okay. Got that. Another writer from the same genre says that she is not comfortable below Rs 0.75 ppw. Okay. Fair enough. Slightly higher than the previous one but in the same ball park. Then comes a third freelance writer, with comparatively the same amount of experience as the other two. She suddenly comes up with this insane pricing of Rs. 3 ppw. (Insane compared to the last two) So, now there are three writers, with similar experience, quality of work and expertise, each charging different prices. Which one out of the three is the industry standard then? What is the freelancer with Rs 3 ppw bringing to the table? What is the writer charging the lowest lacking in? Do remember that all three of them are good writers, no doubt about that. But such a huge gap between the PPWs really confuses the client as well. Every client goes into a project with a predetermined budget. They maybe worked with writers before who charged Rs. 1.5 per word. Now, if suddenly, the charge increases to Rs. 4 or 5, you can understand how confusing it can be for someone. "Did the industry standards change?" "Why did the previous writer charge less then? Did I underpay without knowing?" "Will I be overpaying now?" When I started my career as a content writer, I thought there was no big deal in incorporating your creative thoughts into your writing while using keywords. To use 'that' or not to use 'that' - that is the question. If you constantly second-guess your use of "that," you're not alone. The confusion around this is common for writers at all levels. I am here to tell you it’s not very difficult to understand when you can omit it from your sentences. There are three situations where you can safely remove "that" without compromising clarity: 1. After reporting verbs like say, think, know, believe, claim, hope, etc. - Our team believes (that) the new campaign will help us reach our target audience more effectively. -They suggested (that) we could improve our content strategy. 2. When "that" introduces a dependent clause -The report (that) she submitted was thoroughly researched. -The data (that) they collected revealed interesting trends. 3. When the writing is less formal, omitting "that" can make the sentence more direct and conversational -I'm thrilled (that) we'll be collaborating on this project. -She's confident (that) her team will win the competition. In each of these cases, removing "that" doesn't change the meaning of the sentence, but it does make your writing more succinct and easier to read. But if removing it creates ambiguity or changes the intended meaning of your sentence, it's best to keep it in. Here's a quick tip: If the sentence sounds complete and clear without "that," leave it out. But if you find yourself questioning whether the meaning is still apparent, it's safer to keep it in place.
