Building Your Content Strategy from Scratch - A Writer's POV. . . LinkedIn Fam...It's me again! In my work as a Content Writer and Marketer, I have come to appreciate that, building a content strategy is one of the solids for any successful digital presence. Whether you are crafting blog posts or social media updates, or creating email newsletters, having a clear and actionable plan is crucial. The first thing that must be done is Understanding Your Audience. In any content strategy, it is important to deeply understand who your audience is. Who are they? What are their pain points? What content would most likely resonate with them? For me, I try to fit into the shoes of each member of my target audience (it's a lot of shoes, yes. But it helps me to gain a better perspective into what is most suitable for them, and what they would most likely respond to). This understanding will guide your tone, style, and the types of content you will create. It's not just about noting the demographics; it's about tapping into the emotional and intellectual needs of your readers/end users. Next, you must Set Clear Objectives. I know you love to write, and that writing is your passion, but except you're writing "just for the fun of it", you need to state clearly what the purpose of your content is. What do you want to achieve with your content? Are you looking to drive traffic, generate leads, or simply build brand awareness? Clear, measurable goals will keep your content focused and purposeful. Without a destination, even the best content can feel directionless. Next is Content Ideation and Planning. Once you know who you're talking to (Your Target Audience) and what you want to achieve (Purpose of Your Content), it's time to brainstorm on Content ideas. This is where your creativity as a writer shines forth. Think about the questions your audience might have, the problems they're trying to solve, and how your content can be the solution. I tried batch-writing content. And failed. I thought that writing content prior would save me from stressing out and some time. It did, initially. Then came the struggles, 🌱I scheduled a post and due to some malfunctions, it was not posted. I noticed that a day later. 🌱I then started writing 2 posts a day, to save some time the following week to pre-plan content. When I realised that I had content for the day, I didn’t write. 🌱I realised that I had to wait for a week to write about what I had learned that day. I put what I learn into practice through my posts to see how it works. Moreover, writing my posts daily helps me 💫Practice every day, 💫Experiment with new things and 💫Have a deep session where I just focus on writing. This way, if I find many interesting things, I just note it down and write the next day. So far, daily writing works best for me. I do write content prior if I am unavailable. Grow with real followers, not bots I see most of the beginners and sometimes most of the big creators also do this one bullshit thing which is buying followers from a follower-selling page or somewhere on websites and a third party. So-called Instagram influencers also promote that follower-selling page without guilt. Let me first tell what is buying followers. Everyone wishes to see their Instagram account with more followers because if we have more followers, we are definitely seen as an authority and famous personality, that's the true thing also. To achieve that, as I said before, people buy followers from Instagram follower-selling pages and websites without the knowledge. Example: If you pay 1000 rupees, they will give 350 or 500 followers to your Instagram account, kind of recharging. It's completely bullshit. If you do like that, it means at some point Instagram will ban you. Also, those followers you are receiving from your paid money are pure bots. Those accounts are like foreign profiles and they don't engage with your posts, they don't like anything. They are literally bots, no use of their profile. So make sure you don't make that kind of mistake. Go with pure organic. It's okay to have fewer followers who are regularly engaged than more useless bot followers. 7 Mistakes That Made My Ad Copy Flop I started writing ad copies 2 years ago. Since then, I have written many pieces of content. I was continuously learning and improving, Even now, I am still learning every day, However, I have identified a few common mistakes that you should avoid while writing your content.  📌Only talking about how the product is made or how it works, rather than focusing on what it can do for the audience. 📌Copy that only lists product features in long-form content without  telling the benefits for the audience. 📌Copy that presents only facts without demonstrating how  these facts address the reader's needs. 📌Copy with poor visuals that appear boring to the readers,  causing them to mindlessly scroll past the ad. 📌Lengthy copy filled with jargon and passive voice of text that is difficult to read and understand. 📌Copy lacking a compelling story fails to engage the reader, resulting in a loss of interest and making it boring. 📌Copy lacking a personal touch may come across as cold and formal,  rather than warm and friendly. The PPWs charged by freelance writers are strange and confusing. I reach out to around 10 new freelance writers every week to pitch a project. Yes, I pitch the project to them based on THEIR expertise. Their extensive experience and portfolio helps me in this regard - which is why I reach out to a particular writer for a particular project, rather than just taking any conversation ahead randomly. Now, the issue lies here. One freelance writer, with impeccable writing skills, says that her charges are 0.50 ppw. Okay. Got that. Another writer from the same genre says that she is not comfortable below Rs 0.75 ppw. Okay. Fair enough. Slightly higher than the previous one but in the same ball park. Then comes a third freelance writer, with comparatively the same amount of experience as the other two. She suddenly comes up with this insane pricing of Rs. 3 ppw. (Insane compared to the last two) So, now there are three writers, with similar experience, quality of work and expertise, each charging different prices. Which one out of the three is the industry standard then? What is the freelancer with Rs 3 ppw bringing to the table? What is the writer charging the lowest lacking in? Do remember that all three of them are good writers, no doubt about that. But such a huge gap between the PPWs really confuses the client as well. Every client goes into a project with a predetermined budget. They maybe worked with writers before who charged Rs. 1.5 per word. Now, if suddenly, the charge increases to Rs. 4 or 5, you can understand how confusing it can be for someone. "Did the industry standards change?" "Why did the previous writer charge less then? Did I underpay without knowing?" "Will I be overpaying now?" Creating compelling content is easy if you know how its parts and components work. Ps: understanding this has helped me create multiple pieces of content for my client, myself, and my blogs with ease. Sometimes, putting your ideas into words with a lot jumbled up in your head can be a hassle. But, understanding this will help you create content with ease. A content has 3 main parts which are the HOOK, BODY, and CTA and all 3 parts have their components consisting of: 👉 PART 1: HOOk ~ Main Hook: This is the first and most important part that grabs readers' attention. ~ Re-hook: This catalyzes the main hook, reeling in your readers more. 👉 PART 2: BODY ~ Introduction: This sets up the stage for the main content. ~ Main message: This explains the main idea/message of your content. ~ Conclusion: This summarizes beautifully all you have said in your post. 👉 PART 3: CTA ~ Your call to action should be in sync with your main point and conclusion ~ And encourage your readers to take action. So, when next you find yourself struggling to structure your content, Write down these 3 parts and their components and follow the formula. This will help you create better, clear, and concise content for your audience. Don't forget to thank me later.
