    Today, steel is one of the most common materials in the world, with more than 1.3 billion tons produced annually. It is a major component in buildings, infrastructure, tools, ships, automobiles, machines, appliances, and weapons. Heat treatment and microstructure studies have always been a wide area of research for mechanical engineers. We come across the steel in our lives on an everyday basis. We can find its influence in our lives in almost everything we do; we use or we look at it. The steel used for this research however is a medium carbon EN-8 steel AISI 1040. It is alloyed and it is used to make things like shafts, keys stressed pins. The steel with its immense practical applications is an important component in everybody's life.EN8 is a very popular grade of through-hardening medium carbon steel, which is readily machined able in any condition. EN8 is suitable for the manufacture of parts such as general-purpose axles and shafts, gears, bolts, and studs The EN8 grade steel is chosen for heat treatment to study and analysis on the variation of properties and microstructure of EN-8 when different heat treatments are done on it. Also, the comparison of microstructural differences. The objective of this study is to analyze the hardness of EN8 steel when different heat treatment is done.

  • SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT AND DISPOSAL PLANT DESIGN FOR A PLASTIC INDUSTRY

    plastic industry and suitable ways of plastic disposed of.
    Design the recycling disposal plant with appropriate dimensions with
    reference to Hycount plastic and chemicals at Killikolloor, Kollam.
    Provide a solution to the solid waste disposed of plastic industry and
    appropriate recycling methods.
    Stabilize the organic matter present in the sewage and which can be
    disposed in to environment.

In this particular investigation, carbon-epoxy (C-E) composite is compared with that of glass-epoxy (G-E) composites for properties using this set up.
