A lot of people come to me and ask, "What is the role of an HRBP?" As an HRBP, we work around employee engagement, attrition management, talent management and development, and people advisory. But beyond these tasks, we play a strategic role in the transformation of an organization. Strategic Transformation: One of the most impactful roles of an HRBP is driving organizational transformation. During Satya Nadella’s tenure at Microsoft, HRBPs were instrumental in fostering a culture of innovation and growth mindset, which transformed Microsoft into a leading player in cloud computing. This cultural shift wasn't just about new products or technologies but about changing how people thought and worked together. HRBPs guided this change, ensuring that employees had the skills and mindset needed to embrace new challenges and drive the company's success. The Indian IT hiring landscape is poised for recovery starting January 2025, according to insights from industry experts. After a prolonged period of workforce reductions due to global economic challenges, optimism is returning as headcount declines stabilize. Key points include: Headcount Trends: The top five IT services firms in India saw their aggregate headcount decrease for the seventh consecutive quarter. However, companies like Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Wipro, and Tech Mahindra reported net additions in their workforce. Current Statistics: As of the first quarter of fiscal 2025, the total headcount in these firms stands at approximately 1,523,742, only slightly down from 1,525,776 in March 2024. Hiring Mandates: The number of open mandates in IT has increased from about 1,000-1,200 in 2023-24 to around 1,500-1,600 currently, indicating a potential uptick in hiring activity. This shift marks a hopeful turn for the IT sector after a challenging period characterized by reduced project pipelines and cautious hiring practices.

One of the pitiful leave policies is the 'Sandwich Leave.' But what exactly is it? Suppose there's a public holiday on a Wednesday. You decide to take leave on Thursday, giving yourself a mini-vacation of four days, including the weekend, with just one day deducted from your annual leave balance. Under this policy, all four days are 'sandwiched,' and the entire duration is deducted from your personal leave balance. The sandwich leave policy was introduced for factory workers, this policy may not align well with the expectations of today's workforce. A PIP is not something to be feared; it’s a structured growth plan designed to help employees improve their performance and set a roadmap for their development. A PIP typically includes: - Clear Objectives: Specific areas where improvement is needed. - Actionable Steps: Detailed actions the employee can take to improve. - Support and Resources: Tools, training, and guidance provided to assist in the improvement process. - Regular Check-ins: Scheduled meetings to review progress and make necessary adjustments. Why You Shouldn’t Be Afraid of a PIP: 1. Growth Opportunity: A PIP is an opportunity for you to receive constructive feedback and improve your skills. 2.
