Is Volkswagen going the Nokia way? Recently Volkswagen announced it's decision to close two factories in Germany ( one big and other a comparatively small component manufacturing facility) first time in its history and that too in its home country. European car manufacturers are facing problems from traditional fossil fuel ( petrol & diesel) driven cars which are polluting but profitable vs non polluting, clean cars but less profitable as of now but having a high growing futuristic demand. The European car company is facing challenges in facing the onslaught of EV cars from Asian country mainly China with US catching up fast. The difficulty they are facing is in transitioning from a fossil fuel led technology to a clean technology. Moving on....... from my role at Polycab India(PIL) after 3 years, I reflect on the journey of transforming HR into a strategic partner at PIL. Our accomplishments include setting up the HR Organisation, defining PIL's Purpose, Values, and Competencies, and implementing various initiatives to propel the organisation forward. From job evaluation to leadership development, launching an employee-friendly HRMS,a new PMS and enhancing learning opportunities, we made significant strides and I would like to think we made some difference in the lives of the employees. Recently, my friend took his Tata Punch for servicing at authorized service centre which was within free service. However, the service was far below acceptable level. No oils were checked and changed and so on. Dissatisfied, he took his car to his known private car repair service centre where the service centre owner showed that no inner work / servicing was done other than outer work like cleaning, washing and polishing.. When ever a technical product company / industry fails to provide good and affordable after sales service a new parallel industry comes up. This is a failure of technical product manufacturing companies. After sales service is even far more important than new sales as brand loyalty comes from customer experience. A dissatisfied customer will never buy that company's product/s ever again and will dissuade others from buying too. That's how companies loose current and prospective customers. Bad name / experience spreads like wild fire in the market. Carrier Midea India - I am being forced to write this post after being harassed by your customer care & Service Center. Two months ago, I purchased Carrier 1.5 Ton AC from Vijay Sales Faridabad with the expectation of reliable cooling and impeccable service. I regret to inform you that the experience has been nothing short of disappointing. However, it pains me to inform you that the unit supplied to us has been faulty since installation. Your customer care is of no use as they always do false commitments and never solve anything and never call back. Service Center never pick calls. Engineers never pick calls. How should you service your client when you are never reachable. We have exhausted all conventional channels of communication and patience in seeking a viable resolution to this matter. Hence, I need your immediate attention and intervention in rectifying this issue. We believe in the integrity of the Carrier Midea India brand and trust that this unfortunate episode does not reflect its standard practices. I am a proud EV Owner and everytime someone sits in my car this question is a must - What is the Range? I do understand their concerns, however if you plan your long distance travel there is absolutely no issue at all. I regularly do Gurgaon - Jaipur drive in my EV and the distance is close to 280 KMs. I do have a ICE car as well, however prefer my EV for multiple reasons. EV is the future and we must understand what future of mobility holds for us. HEV, PHEV, and BEV are different types of electric vehicles with varying degrees of electrification. Here's a concise overview of each, along with their technologies, advantages, and disadvantages: 1. HEV (Hybrid Electric Vehicle): - Technology: Combines an internal combustion engine (ICE) with an electric motor and a small battery. - Advantages: - Improved fuel efficiency compared to conventional cars. - Regenerative braking helps recharge the battery. - No range anxiety since it doesn't rely solely on the battery. - Disadvantages: - Limited electric-only range. - Higher cost compared to conventional cars. 2. PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle): - Technology: Combines an ICE with a larger battery that can be charged from an external power source. - Advantages: - Longer electric-only range, reducing the need for fuel. - Lower emissions and better fuel economy when driving in electric mode. - Flexibility to use both electric and combustion power. - Disadvantages: - Higher initial cost due to the larger battery. - Limited charging infrastructure may affect convenience. 3. BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle): - Technology: Relies solely on an electric motor powered by a large battery pack. - Advantages: - Sports car like acceleration, feel the thrill. - Zero emissions, reducing environmental impact. - Lower operating costs due to lower maintenance and no need for fuel. - Disadvantages: - Limited driving range compared to traditional cars, hence range anxiety. - Longer recharging time compared to refueling a conventional vehicle. - Dependence on charging infrastructure availability. - Faster battery discharge at higher speeds. Professional lessons from T20 World Cup Final : Yesterday’s match was truly a“ खेले हम जी जान से “ moment a line Havells strongly believes and follows. So finally India won T20 World Cup after 2007, i.e after 17 years ! Not a big deal ? Ask a person who plays cricket and he will tell you what it means to beat top most cricket teams under tremendous pressure and bring trophy at home. It is a big deal and we all enjoyed it a lot, but final match was so unique! Almost all team members cried on the field after winning the match, it shows what was going on in their mind. Yesterday’s match could become a potential case study for many management colleges and corporates, as being a professional we can learn allot from that match. So here are some professional key lessons from T20 World-Cup Final Match- India vs South Africa : 1. To Win there is No “I” always “ We” : if you think you are a good batsman and you alone can bring trophy at home, sorry, even Virat’s 76 runs contributions was even not sufficient. If you think you are good bowler you can bring trophy, sorry, if Sky and Pant had dropped the catches, entire scenario would have changed. So lesson is, when people of different skill sets work as a team they creat magic, they execute extraordinary things even they can’t imagine. So we all should play a role of good team member and stay away from “I” , it’s always “we”. 2. Strategy: Even a great team fail to perform due to lack of proper strategy. Yesterday’s match shows why strategy plays an important role, giving bowling to Bumrah to slow the run rate and take wickets (rather saving him for the very end), that strategy worked and changed the entire game. As a professional we all should prepare good strategy for our official work without that we are bound to fail, no mater how good we are! 3. Meritocracy: Those who are capable should get the chance to perform, favouritism and biased behaviours can destroy the entire team spirit. Hence, in professional work a person who is capable should be given right possible responsibility and platform to perform. 4. Patience & focus : It’s a famous quote “ Patience is the key” that’s true , you can imagine level of pressure in yesterday’s match still everyone maintain their calm, composure and focused on the game! ultimately they won! As a professional we should also maintain our calm and stay composed, no matter how tough our customers or situations are. 5. Keep your Ego aside and stay humble : After the match what Virat Kohli said to reporter “ God is great, I bow my head in gratitude, keep ego aside , respect the situation rather than force things out there “ Ego destroys many things! we cannot get our job done if we always have ego clashes with our colleagues , customers , seniors. Such kind of behaviour is never appreciated in any organisation. worst ola electric service in India. *I have been trying to book repair slots from last 30 days but app shows no slot available. *When we call customer care they show customer care waiting time is more then 30 minutes and same ia never ending. *They create new a service request everytime we call and close older service request automatically without any resolution. Above thins shows 1. Ola had lot of technicak glitches because of which lot of service and repair requested every day. 2. Ola do not have sufficent staff. 3. Worst service experince.
