I'm sure you’ve heard about Higher-Order Functions in Kotlin, right? Sounds fancy, but shayad smjh nhi aaya hoga. Koi baat nhi, Mai Hoon Na. It's not as scary as it sounds. It’s just Kotlin being extra smart ka ****(You can replace these * as per your convenience) 😎 What’s a Higher-Order Function? In simple words: It’s a function that either takes another function as a parameter, or returns a function. Basically, it’s a function ka baap. 😂 Think of it like this: You go to a restaurant. Normally, you order a dish (a normal function). But here, you’re asking the chef to give you the recipe (another function). And now you can cook the dish yourself! 🍲 That’s a higher-order function - a function that can handle other functions! Basic Example : fun calculate(num1: Int, num2: Int, operation: (Int, Int) -> Int): Int { return operation(num1, num2) } // Calling the higher-order function val sum = calculate(5, 10, { a, b -> a + b }) println(sum) // Output: 15 Here, calculate() is the higher-order function. You’re passing an operation as a parameter, which is a function that adds two numbers. Instead of just adding normally, you’re letting the calculate function handle the math for you! Higher-order functions = When Kotlin lets you hand over the hard work (function) to another function and chill. 😎 Why Use Higher-Order Functions? Cleaner Code: Less duplication, more reusability. Q) What is the difference between Static Dispatch and Dynamic Dispatch in iOS? Ans: Let's try to understand the difference from a practical example initially, and then we will go deep technically : Suppose there are two food delivery guys: One of them works for Uber Eats and the other one is a direct employee of McDonalds. Suppose they both stay in the same apartment and they both got an order in their respective application and from the same location. Now since Mconald's delivery guy is a direct employee, he is aware of their store and will reach out directly. Whereas, Uber Eat's delivery guy's restaurant is never fixed so he has to check the address/location of the restaurant each time, needing some inquiry as well from the map, the Mall's store map, or from the Mall's help center. Thus the McDonald's delivery partner is fast and direct just like the Static Dispatch, and the Uber Eats Partner is a bit slow even though their address was the same because of are not aware, like the Dynamic Dispatch. 1.⁠ ⁠Static Dispatch: Static dispatch occurs when the method to execute is determined at compile time. Swift heavily favors static dispatch due to its performance benefits, as it allows the compiler to optimize calls by directly referencing the function to execute, eliminating any overhead associated with dynamic resolution. Direct Access: Static dispatch accesses the function's implementation directly. Performance: It's the fastest method of dispatch available in Swift due to its ability to be optimized by the compiler. Usage: Most functions in Swift, including those marked as final in classes, those in structs, enums, and global functions, use static dispatch. Using final can enforce static dispatch for a method in a class by preventing it from being overridden by subclasses. 2.⁠ ⁠Dynamic Dispatch: Dynamic dispatch occurs when the method to invoke is determined at runtime. This approach is more flexible but comes with some performance costs due to the lookup overhead. Virtual Table: Swift uses a vtable for classes that require dynamic dispatch. A vtable is a lookup table used at runtime to resolve method calls. Performance: Slower than static dispatch due to the overhead of determining which method implementation to call at runtime. Usage: Non-final class methods in Swift use dynamic dispatch. This allows subclasses to override and provide their implementations, which the runtime system will invoke correctly. “Bhaiya at the end to react native ka code bhi jvm bytecode m hi compile hota h na?” This was a response i got from a developer when asked about how react native works in Android. But reality could not be farther. See, Android DVM is not capabale of running javascript code because these are inherently different technologies. Instead, what happenes is that a JSC (JavascriptCore) runtime that is bundled into android application alongside react native libs which actually loads the javascript code into memory at runtime. And then, there is a React Native bridge native library (.so file) which acts as a intermediator, translating the calls from java/kotlin code and js code. And because of all these intermediary layers translating instructions among languages, the performance for react native is not as good as native applications. Hope it helps.

3 days back I posted about React Native opening in my team. I had mentioned, please DM if you have never applied on a portal before. Around 100 people messaged me: 1. Despite saying DM only if you never applied, almost 70-80 of them have already applied and still sent the resume. 2. Many say, a resume is attached in the message (a copy pasted message) but there is no resume attached. 3. Some send just "Hi" . I respect your politeness to start a conversation, but no harm in mentioning the reason for the message. 4. Despite saying experience should be less than 4 years, many with 5+ years of experience shared their details. 5. Others who were meeting the criteria, their resume is not upto the mark. No information about projects, skills, achievements etc. 6. Hardly I could hardly get 4-6 resumes who met all the criteria. I totally respect your situation of getting a referral. But when criteria is not met and still if you approach, almost it's a waste of time for both. In conclusion, referring people is hard, so most have stopped doing it on LinkedIn. What do you think ? If you're a frontend developer and looking for a job change then don't learn serious DSA. .. .. If, 1. You're target company is not premium product based company like Google/Microsoft etc. 2. Many startups and mid range companies also ask DSA but you don't have to solve 400+ leetcode problems for that. 3. Just by studying array, string, linked list questions of easy and medium difficulty you can crack them. 4. Along with basic DSA focus more on machine coding, web optimization etc. Which will have more weightage for you in the interview. open to hear your thoughts on how much DSA is important for frontend developer. Stop using Redux for everything. It's not a silver bullet to solve all the problems. 1. People use Redux for making api call. 2. People use Redux for form validation. 3. People use Redux for storing everything on the central storage which is not necessity. my suggestion is, use Redux wisely, try to avoid it as much as possible. Given an array of integers add 1 to the last digit and return the result. Ex: ["1","2",3"] + 1 = ["1","2","4"]. Looks like a very easy problem to solve right ? Let me give you a couple more examples. -> What if the number ends with 9. Ex: ["1", "9", "9"] ? -> What if the number has only 9's ? Ex: ["9","9","9","9"] -> What if I told you, "You cannot convert the array into number" ? Easy questions to solve in other languages are sometimes hard to solve in #javascript. Kotlin, Jetpack Compose Any long running tasks like database access, need to be done on the background thread in order not to block the main thread, usually this is done by a coroutine which makes the task run on the background thread by a suspended function I came across with this problem while developing. Encountering problem along the way is what makes us grow #Kotlin #Coroutines

#Paytm employees have taken to the Ministry of Labour and Employment after their unfair layoff without any proper severance package. We all have been reading the brutal layoffs news for the past 2 years; one where the CEO just shows up on the Zoom call to fire 80% of the company or where security guards show up after a conference and employees are escorted. In some cases, they find a legal loophole by forcing you to admit that there was a performance issue and putting you in PIP and thereby crushing your self-confidence and then saving some money by not paying their dues after firing you. There are companies that treat their employees like trash and expect the general public to buy the narrative of "We are a family". If an employee absconds a company then it is frowned upon in the industry, the companies scare you with a bad relieving letter or failed background checks in the next company and yet these same companies face no consequences when they happily ruin the financial and mental status of their so-called "family members". With privatisation on the rise it is high time that we all voice for better labour laws in #India so that people can work peacefully.
