Bain Capital has emerged as the frontrunner to acquire a controlling stake in Indian cancer hospital chain Healthcare Global Enterprises Limited. The US private equity firm is considering buying CVC Capital Partners’ 60.4% stake in the Mumbai-listed company, Bloomberg reported. Bain may consider paying a premium to the market price for the stake. Despite already having an ARR of ₹5,000 Cr, Hyperpure by Zomato could be just scratching the surface, with significant scope for increased profitability. We identified a few global listed companies in a similar space (along with their valuations) for comparative analysis in our next blog at Finding Outperformers. These companies have revenues 100x to 200x that of Hyperpure in $ terms and have been running an EBITDA-positive business for years now: 1. Sysco Corp ($38 Bn) - Distributes frozen foods (meat, seafood, prepared entrées, fruits, vegetables, desserts), canned and dry foods, fresh meat, and non-food items (paper products, napkins, plates, utensils, cleaning supplies) to restaurants, hospitals, schools, colleges, hotels, industrial caterers, and other foodservice venues. 2. Performance Foodservice ($10 Bn) - Offers frozen foods, groceries, candy, snacks, beverages, tobacco, meats, seafood, health and beauty products, disposables, and cleaning supplies. They also provide value-added services, menu development, and operational strategy to restaurants, schools, hospitals, retailers, and more. 3. US Foods ($13 Bn) - Involved in the sale, distribution & marketing of fresh, frozen, and dry food and non-food products in the United States. Serves customers including restaurants, national restaurant chains, hospitals, nursing homes, hotels, country clubs, government, colleges, universities, etc. 4. UNFI [United Natural Foods] ($1 Bn) - Distributes natural, organic, speciality, produce, conventional grocery and non-food products in the United States and Canada in Wholesale and Retail segments, serving chains, independent retailers, and supernatural chains, and more. ➡️Ultimately, all these players are doing similar activities in the USA but on a larger scale, even after adjusting for foreign currency parity.
