Hiring alert: Content writers wanted for bulk work. 20-35ppw and weekly payouts of 20-30k! But wait! Before you think my company or I are pulling such stunts, let me tell you that this isn't our ad. But some "companies" are. They don't value the work that goes into writing a piece of persuasive content, and they definitely don't understand that the age of slave labor is over. So, let's delve into some math, shall we? According to my calculations, the company (a real one BTW) wants a content writer to publish an average of 80 articles per week, each of 1000 words, just to earn the minimum that they promise! That's more than 11 articles per day! Seems unrealistic? Maybe. Do people comment "interested" on such posts every single minute? You bet they do! If you are someone who hires content writers or is planning to hire them anytime soon, this post is for you. I know it's exceptionally easy to find content writers nowadays. Everyone wants to make money out of writing. Every other person is ready to serve you with woven words on your plate. And yet, I agree—I agree that it's become harder to find writers who really write. Not everyone who claims to serve you with words knows how to weave them in a digestible way. Yes, there is the menace of AI tools that produce subpar content that barely connects with bots, let alone humans. Yes, many people use these tools nevertheless and deliver content that leaves you discontent. - You deserve better quality of content. - You deserve content written by humans, not LLMs. - You want to steer clear of AI content for your brand. But my question is, how do you do that? Do you rely solely on an AI detection tool like ZeroGPT to scan written content? Do you fire a new writer right away if such a tool shows a high AI score? Do you trust these tools more than your writers? PLEASE DON'T. I don't know if you are aware, but none of these tools are 100% accurate. In fact, most of them can be outright wrong, as in the picture below. Many people indeed deliver content ripped off from an AI tool. But, there are many who give their all to the work. They spend hours researching, try to make every sentence count, and finally spend another hour or two proofreading and editing the content to ensure it's good to go. After all this effort, do they deserve to be doubted and questioned just because an AI detector flagged their content as "Written by AI" NO—they don't. And if you, as a client or manager, are using AI detectors to judge your writers, you are playing the game all wrong. So, what can you do instead? ✅ Go through the content once if you can. Does it sound AI-written to you? Do you have suggestions for improving specific parts? Read the content and give those suggestions instead of running it through a detector. ✅ Hire an experienced content editor or manager to deal with content writers. If you cannot go through the piece manually, hire professionals for help. They usually have a way with words and, unlike AI detectors, will actually take care of the content quality. ✅ Use at least 3-4 AI detectors to scan the content piece. If you cannot do the first two steps, run the written piece with multiple AI detection tools rather than just one. If different tools show conflicting results, there might be more to it than AI content. Not every writer who comes your way uses AI to write content. Sure, you can and must judge them. But judge them fairly. PS: I have not been fired due to false AI-content accusations. But I just got my first extensive experience using ZeroGPT and how frustrating it can be. I posted a hiring alert for a Bengali writer yesterday, and the response left me scratching my head (for lack of a better word).. For those of you who haven't seen the original post, it was an announcement for hiring a BENGALI LANGUAGE CONTENT WRITER (I'm emphasizing this for reasons you'll soon understand). It was clearly mentioned in the headline and the rest of the post was about the nitty-gritty details outlining the workload and payment structure. At the end, I included my email so applicants can send in their resumes and portfolios/writing samples. Imagine my surprise when the applications start rolling in and here's what I find: ❌ 7/30 applicants had either no subject lines or no body text. ❌ 6/30 applicants attached only a resume and no writing sample. ❌ 4/30 applicants didn't even attach a resume and sent a generic AI-generated message in the body text. And worst? ❌ 27/30 applicants didn't even see the post was for a Bengali writer, despite it being the headline. So now, I have shortlisted only three resumes with BENGALI writing samples/portfolios and I will review them. The rest are in my trash 🗑️ But this post is not to demean or bash hopeful applicants. This post is intended to shed light on the fact that most applicants don't even show the slightest professional courtesy of reading a job post before jumping at the prospect of a job. If you're someone who's looking for employment here on LinkedIn, here's what to do in the future ⬇️ ✅ Read the headline and understand what the employer is looking for. ✅ If you feel you can apply for it, make the effort to write a subject line and some body text. ✅ Attach your resume AND portfolio/writing samples with your email. The distasteful truth. Conpanies in Pakistan hire people for the positions of Social Media Executives and Managers, make them handle all the marketing strategies, the postings, the client servicing, even the visual concepts and then lie about the job being 9-5 with Saturdays and Sundays being off because when there’s that much to do, how do you expect to have any time off? Oh, and the salary isn’t even worth it but they capitalize on people and their desperation to actually have a full time job. They’re called marketing managers, social media managers shouldn’t be making marketing strategies and handling clients.
