Indian Sports Industry taking bigger strides this week. Indian Sports Federations becoming more open for growth; >> The @Basketball Federation of India (BFI) has locked in a monumental deal with ACG Sports Private Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of ACG World, for a tenure of 7 years. This deal signifies a massive investment of ₹216.3 crores for the 5x5 and 3x3 leagues, with an annual investment of about ₹31 crores. >> KheloMore and All India Pickleball Association to establish 100 pickleball courts in 2 years. AIPA and KheloMore have announced an investment of Rs 5 crore to construct AIPA affiliated 100 state-of-the-art pickleball courts nationwide in two years. >> Tech-enabled sports startup Machaxi has raised Rs 4.8 crore ($580,000) in a pre – Series A Round led by Inflection Point Ventures. The Bengaluru-based company had previously raised $160,000 in a seed round back in 2022 from notable angel investors. The funds will be used to develop technology for user analytics and sports shopping, expand the sports shop vertical, and build the brand. #sports #sportsbiz #india #indiasportsindustry

Really a much required step to see draft #sports #policy for #india. With the changing landscape and impact of sports combined with largest #young population, different narrative and solutions are required. While policy and intentions are clear, without objective goals (with a clear picture of current situation), it may not lead to implementable solutions. First and foremost thing is to look at our sports ecosystem in holistic way. Commonly, two data points are quoted: Indian population of 145 cr and 6 #olympic medals. What about most important data points in-between: - how many #schools have #physicaleducation subject and dedicated #teacher? - how many #Indians are active on regular basis? - what is #nutrition and #health status of young population? - how many #Indians can afford playing sports? Without these data points, there will be no goals set. For criticality of one such data point, 2.2 cr Indian pay taxes and only a small percentage of those can afford sports. Then, we must address sports affordability in our policy. As the field of strength and conditioning (S&C) continues to grow, there are noticeable increases in jobs, salaries, research even the Malpractice in S&C has increased too due to poor industry regulations cheap online degrees certifications and social media marketing and publicity in India. Therefore it has become really important to define the difference between S&C Coaches and Evidence-based practice (EBP) in S&C or S&C Practitioners. The real difference between S&C Coaches and S&C Practitioners is very simple - Anybody can be a S&C Coach by doing any online certification or online degree. Whereas to become a S&C Practitioner one has to pursue a full time MSc in S&C from a recognised University, learn research methodology applied in S&C , lab work, practicals and submit a thesis of your project to get the degree, just like in other health professions such as Sports Medicine Specialist, physiotherapist, clinicians and medical practitioners. According to literature, in S&C evidence-based practice (EBP) involves integrating scientific research with coach expertise such that the individual needs of athletes are met in terms of physicality, values, preferences, and constraints" (Source:NSCA Strength and Conditioning Journals). Being one of the first alumni of the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi University, A Central University where the Sports Science department is established under National Centre for Sports Science Research (NCSSR) and the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) from where I did my MSc in Strength and Conditioning under the mentorship of my Guru Dr Vivek Kr Singh, I came to know that there are only two universities which provide full time MSc in Strength and Conditioning and the other one is Annamalai University. According to my experience as a S&C Practitioner for the past 24 years having trained athletes/non athletes and as the Founder & Director of UFTA training and certifying over 2400 students to become S&C Coaches, Personal Trainers and Nutritionists it's useless to introduce new Certification courses in S&C which has no value or recognition in the industry in India and abroad instead we should focus on introducing higher education in S&C in universities conducting more research. In my opinion more universities should come forward in order to provide Post Graduate courses in S&C so that more research is conducted for enhancing the performance of our athletes to perform well in the Olympics. Finally ofcourse getting the Degree Accreditation from IUSCA which is the sole dedicated Accreditation Body Worldwide for Strength and Conditioning S&C in the Higher Education Sector. #iusca #strengthandconditiining #accreditation

There has a lot of discussions, solutions and perspectives on how #India can be a powerhouse of #sports and #olympics. Many enthusiasts (mostly one in 4 years) want to contribute to sports in some way. Few also reached out to me personally on how to support and grow sports. Here is my take: - Stop talking about THEY (like a different world of few elite athletes, federations, government etc.) and think about WE (our families, friends, communities, schools/colleges, workplaces and all sports participants) - Map your circle of control and influence clearly; and lead that change yourself first rather than pointing fingers towards others - Be the change by participating in sports regularly while involving friends, families and colleagues - Influence everyone in your circle to play sports with #olympicvalues of #Friendship, #Excellence, #Respect - Influence education institution and workplaces to develop a culture of sports with integration of values If each sports enthusiast be a sports participant and lead at least 10 new participants every year, we will have a significant change in years to come as Nelson Mandela said "Sports has power to change the world" #sports #Parisolympics #friends #families #workplaces #schools #colleges #ovep Image credit: https://lnkd.in/gB_a_Qek

A positive step taken by All India Football Federation to deal with sexual harassment in its work place. A much awaited PoSH policy has been implemented. Would like to read this PoSH policy and how it will deal with complaints. I hope they make it mandatory for all state and district associations to implement the same.
