Becoming one among those 800+ Vibrant Tutors: Stepping into my role at Interval Learning When I realized I’d be working with a team of over 800 tutors, I knew one thing—I needed to connect with them. But how could I get to know them all? 🤔 We have a WhatsApp community group for tutors, but many of them weren’t active that time. So, I decided to connect with them one by one. 📱 I wanted to know them and help solve their problems. It wasn’t just about sending messages—it was about being part of the team. 🙌 By becoming part of their group, I could do my job better as a Learning and Development Associate. 🙌 I started reaching out to tutors one at a time, helped them with their problems, and gaven solutions. Slowly but surely, those DPs started appearing—they were saving my number! 📲 And yes, some still called me “Ma’am” 😂 By the second month, tutors started recognizing me. They were like, “Oh, this is the same guy sending all those messages!” 😆 Here’s an interesting twist: When I got my offer letter from Interval Learning , I thought I would take training sessions for the tutors. I was so excited! But then I learned I would be hosting the training sessions, not facilitating! 🎤 Instead of bringing in external facilitators, we decided to tap into the talent within our tutor community. The first session I hosted was with Hanan muhammed haneef , one of our amazing tutors. It was a great session, and the feedback was awesome ✨ So, even though I didn’t take the session, I realized being a host and helping others shine is just as important! 💡 Check out some moments from that first training session! (Its more than 24 hrs in total) I used to ask myself this question so many times. 💁🏼‍♀️If I concentrated on Family and Friends, I missed out on fitness. 😌If I concentrated on Fitness, I missed out on Work and my business. 🤦🏻‍♀️If I concentrated on business, I missed out on people, fitness, and healthy food. 🙆🏻‍♀️And If I could balance them all, I still missed out on Creating Content for my socials. As a human with just 24 hrs in a day, I am always missing out on something. Haven’t written on LinkedIn in Last 15 days and trust me it bothers me too much. I was constantly scared (My audience on my Socials will forget me.) And my personal brand’s impact might die down. But here is the thing, everything we do is for our personal brand. 📌 Getting fitter 📌 Being with people 📌 Working and working out 📌 Eating better and healthy 📌 Mental and Physical fitness Its all done to make our “Personal” better. One of the worst things colleges do for placements is preparing candidates only when there's a placement season, and that's only for final-year students who are about to graduate. 🙂 It's just a couple of months before placements, colleges push their students to prepare themselves for interviews while taking care of their final-year results. They receive PD training, GD, and personal interview questions, which most students have to memorize instead of providing thoughtful answers. Imagine every student giving the same answer while introducing themselves. Everyone has the fear of not getting selected, forcing themselves to memorize and remember everything on the spot. But at the end of the day, only students with high CGPA get the job. And for companies, it's high time to find students who are smart, can answer tricky questions on the spot, and can think differently from others. Hire students who can perform better at work, learn faster, bring new ideas, and solve problems creatively. And, Colleges shouldn't focus solely on students during placement seasons; they should prepare them from the first year itself. I asked some students what they have to manage just to get a job during the placement time, and the answers were surprising: - Buying new clothes and shoes - Avoiding jewelry - Personal Grooming - Practicing scripted answers These things have nothing to do with getting a job; they're just to impress the interviewer. But the truth is, interviewers want to know how you answer tricky questions, introduce yourself differently, and showcase your skills and experiences. It's time for colleges and companies to rethink their approach to placements and hiring. Let's focus on developing skills, creativity, and problem-solving abilities rather than just memorizing answers. Share your thoughts on this! I ask only one question to know, how good someone is at Sourcing. Here is how I go about. I will give the most simplest JD to a Recruiter & ask them to write best possible search for that JD. And, any decent Recruiter will write the best possible search, which he/she feels is apt. Also, if the Recruiter is amongst the top 10-15% then the boolean structure will look good. Now I tell the Recruiter, hey your search looks pretty good & it will bring lot of good resumes. But can you tell me, how many good resumes your search is missing? Recruiter : Kehna kya chah te ho (what you trying to say)? (if you remember that meme) Irrespective of how good/bad/avg is your boolean structure, whatever you dump it on naukri or LinkedIn or any platform, you'd get data. And you hop on the journey of spotting good profiles & the brains of Recruiters is trained to spot the good profiles based on their orgs hiring patterns. But the problem here is, do you understand what data sets are missed coz of the searches & yes, even due to good searches. It's about knowing the underlying biases which you have & how can you ensure, you write bias free searches. Spotting biases is a skill which Recruiters got to sharpen in the era of AI. Good Things Take Time When I first joined BrandFlow Media for GeeksforGeeks as a Relationship Manager and Content Writer, I was filled with enthusiasm and expectations. But soon, I found myself facing a reality check. The views were not as high as I had hoped, and I began to question my abilities—was I not cut out for this? However, what I didn't realize then, which I see clearly now, is that good things take time to develop.
