My first report about indo-Korea bilateral relations in 2009 marked the beginning of my close relation with South Korea. The opportunity to study in South Korea under the prestigious Kwanhun-Korea Press Foundation (KPF) Fellowship with Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism (University of Oxford) UK. The Fellowship has added immense value especially understanding the new digital media as it is shaping the entire landscape of media globally. The International fellowship in Seoul gathered journalists from around the world to debate, discuss & learn about the some of the most pressing problems of our time. While learning the highest standards of new media and trends around the world with learned faculties from Reuters (RISJ), University of Oxford & NewYorkTimes as part of program in Seoul.
Korea's rise is an economic miracle, and behind such a story lies the hard working people. I felt delighted amid the vibrancy of food, culture and people. I opened myself to the Korean way of life and culture. I headed alone to Insa-dong to see the uniqueness of Korean arts and craft, and further to Hongdae to feel the pulse of young Koreans. For me as an individual, and as a writer, it is about soaking and melting in the culture so that you can make the greater sense of your words about the place & people. While back in India, I wrote a series comprehensive report. It is also with great pride that I have been inducted as the first member of Korean Culture Center( KCC) in India. Under Mr. Kim, first Director, the KCC has evolved into a cultural hotspot and place of avant-garde collaborations of arts and crafts; music and cinema.
I am indeed grateful to the government of South Korea for the opportunity. I am grateful to the Korean Embassy & KCC for the opportunity to study at KPF, Reuters & University of Oxford.
