The intelligence that ants exhibit—their ability to communicate, work collectively, and adapt to their environment—is far more sophisticated than the sum of all the artificial intelligence systems we have created thus far. ➣ This comparison highlights a fundamental truth: while technology can assist and amplify human capabilities, learning remains a deeply human and organic process. It must be approached with care, balance, and reflection. Just as nature unfolds in a poised and deliberate manner, learning—whether through traditional methods or enhanced by technology—requires patience, attention, and a gradual, thoughtful evolution. ➣ Education should not simply chase the speed of technological progress but instead integrate it in a way that complements natural human development. Learning happens most effectively when nurtured with intention and foresight, allowing students to grow intellectually and emotionally. While AI and other tools can enhance this process, they should remain secondary to the individual's holistic growth. The Logic of Ed-Tech Three Critical Directions (2024) By Michael Mindzak and Rahul Kumar This paper provides a theoretical and conceptual analysis of educational technology (Ed-Tech) including its role in the administration and organization of schools, colleges, and universities; teachers’ pedagogical practices; and students’ learning. During and since the pandemic period, education has relied more heavily than ever on technological tools, products, and services—pedagogical innovations that require novel conceptual, theoretical, and critical perspectives for researchers to engage with. Thus, we employ the term Ed-Tech as a heuristic language to critically interrogate the ways by which the economic logic that underpins commercialized and commodified Ed-Tech continues to shape the sphere of education. This paper focuses on three interrelated concerns surrounding Ed-Tech: sales/privatization; solutions/pedagogy; and surveillance/privacy. A critical examination and discussion of each of these interconnected concepts and concerns reveal overt directions for where Ed-Tech is headed through the conceptualization of inertia, automation, and data. The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has announced new guidelines allowing industry professionals with significant work experience to join technical institutions as faculty members, even if they lack formal teaching education. 💼🏫 This initiative aims to integrate industrial and corporate experience into academic settings and address the shortage of regular faculty in institutions across India. #EducationReform #IndustryAcademia According to the AICTE guidelines, professionals with at least five years of experience in emerging or multidisciplinary domains can be appointed as assistant professors of practice 👨‍🏫, while those with eight years of experience can become associate professors of practice. 👩‍🏫 This new cadre of faculty members is distinct from the University Grants Commission's (UGC) "professors of practice" (PoPs) announced in 2023, primarily in terms of the required years of service. #FacultyHiring #EmergingTech The AICTE document does not explicitly define the roles of these new faculty members. However, KR Venugopal, a retired principal of University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering ( UVCE ) and former vice-chancellor of Bangalore University who collaborates with the AICTE, mentioned that these professionals could also be involved in examination roles. 📝 The introduction of PoPs is intended to bring practical industry experience into the academic environment and alleviate the acute shortage of regular faculty. #IndustryExpertise #AcademicReform The AICTE has emphasized that the guidelines issued by the University Grants Commission (UGC) for the appointment of professors of practice should be strictly followed. 📋 According to UGC rules, a PoP must have at least 15 years of service, preferably at a senior level, in their specific profession or role to be eligible to teach at universities.
