Project Redshift is a Unity and Blender based game being developed by Priyesh Pandey and team. I saw his project on Inovact Social today and wanted to do a PR for him xD The idea is for the game player to convert Mars from a red planet to a green planet. It has 9 levels from Mission launch from ISRO launchpad to Multiple PSLVs arriving on Mars with seeds. It's a damn cool project, right? I got a rank 266 on code 360 weekly contest. If there was no silly mistake in last minute I would get full points of 3 rd question that can got me under 200 rank. next time I will work on my silly mistakes. my intuitions for first 3 questions. 1) Jump string : It is a simple question of conditions on characters of string. if '*' then skip 1 char if '#' skip two chars. otherwise push into res string. 2) max score : in this question I have given two arrays absolute difference I have to maximize of one no from bothe arrays. My intuition was There can be two possibility one no can be smallest from first array and another can be largest from second array and vice versa because absolute difference is given. I take max of both. 3) container queries: It was a bit hectic because of upto 1e5 queries and string length can be 1e5. In this I have to check for each query range if there exist all distinct characters in string. store 1 if exist else 0 in vector. I cannot use brute approach it gave me tle as I know it won't work. Then optimal approach: max chars can be 26 For each index I store prefix count of each character. First I copy previous i -1 table to current and then increment count. I check rth table and l-1 table which character cnt increment I added to set check. Then I iterate from first set containing all distinct character in string. When we(Gaurav Bisht Sanyam Parashar ) participated in a startup simulation event by MDI Gurgaon, we didn’t expect to make waves, especially since MDI is a renowned B-School and we were up against 1500 top-notch teams majorly from management backgrounds. Yet, we were thrilled to be selected among the Top 15 startups, and even more proud to be counted among the Top 5. What’s fascinating is that out of the top 5, 3 teams were from engineering colleges—including ours, Karyakaram. This experience highlighted that engineering isn’t just about technical expertise; it’s a mindset that fosters creativity, problem-solving, and resilience. It prepares you for uncharted territories and opens up endless possibilities for experimentation. Our startup was the only profitable one at the event, proving that engineers are, indeed, everywhere! As its voting season in India, I thought, Why not go with some voting algorithm, The algorithm is "Boyer-Moore's Voting Algorithm" It is used to find Majority Element efficiently in an Array, Boyer-Moore's algorithm states: 1. Candidate Selection: - Traverse the array with a `candidate` and a `count`. - If `count` is 0, set the `candidate` to the current element and reset `count` to 1. 2. Voting Process: - Increment `count` if the current element matches the `candidate`. - Decrement `count` if it doesn't match. but you may think, Why It's Called a Voting Algorithm: - Voting Analogy: Elements "vote" for candidates. - Changing Candidates: If a candidate loses all votes (count drops to 0), a new candidate is chosen. The stereotyping of "Coding ki demand hai" or "programmers to bhai bary log hoty hain" is shaping the future of many newbies. 😕 The time and effort I've put into so-called "hardware-sided courses" like Basics of Electronics, Basics of Electrical Engineering, Digital Logic Design, and Computer Organization and Design feel, to me and many of my peers, like a compromise on our careers as "Software Engineers." Why does this #stereotyping persist? Why is it that the world goes with the flow, pushing passionate and skilled individuals to abandon their fields of interest in favor of software engineering? The idea that earning dollars as soon as possible is the biggest achievement is deeply flawed. Here's the truth: Not everything we learn is for immediate financial gain. Some things help us think differently, providing a "broader lens" to understand systems deeply and innovate. In our Computer Organization and Design course, my teammates Aqiba Abdul Qadir, Neha Nauman Khan, and I worked on a complex project. We simulated the components of #SingleCycleDataPath to execute commands written in #MIPS assembly. This project wasn't just about learning a new skill; it was about grasping the details of computer performance parameters and exposing the market myths used to mislead buyers. This course taught us how to write machine-efficient code and demonstrated why a #computer engineer is a better programmer than a #typical programmer. Understanding the core of computer systems and knowing assembly language means that a computer engineer can optimize coding efficiency. Conversely, a bad programmer can forcefully make a good machine perform poorly through #inefficient coding. We need to change our mindset. Seeking education is not solely about becoming a #money-making machine. It's about gaining a comprehensive understanding and developing the ability to innovate. So, to all the passionate individuals out there: Don't let the #stereotype dictate your career path. Mixture of Nested Experts: Adaptive Processing of Visual Tokens Gagan Jain, Nidhi Hegde, Aditya Kusupati, Arsha Nagrani, Shyamal Buch, Prateek Jain, Anurag Arnab, Sujoy Paul Abstract The visual medium (images and videos) naturally contains a large amount of information redundancy, thereby providing a great opportunity for leveraging efficiency in processing. While Vision Transformer (ViT) based models scale effectively to large data regimes, they fail to capitalize on this inherent redundancy, leading to higher computational costs. Mixture of Experts (MoE) networks demonstrate scalability while maintaining same inference-time costs, but they come with a larger parameter footprint. We present Mixture of Nested Experts (MoNE), which utilizes a nested structure for experts, wherein individual experts fall on an increasing compute-accuracy curve. Given a compute budget, MoNE learns to dynamically choose tokens in a priority order, and thus redundant tokens are processed through cheaper nested experts. Using this framework, we achieve equivalent performance as the baseline models, while reducing inference time compute by over two-fold. We validate our approach on standard image and video datasets - ImageNet-21K, Kinetics400, and Something-Something-v2.
