Daily Vlog Episode #13 ✨ 1. Organized the Friday Tech Talk, Harshil Tomar joined us and talked about how to build Google Chrome extensions 2. Started posting Daily Vlogs on LinkedIn too 3. Started using the Vercel ai-sdk to simplify the code of DevGPT by DevKit, loved it. It allows you to setup a Chat with LLM app from scratch within 5-10 minutes.     4. Read the Larry Ellison book (Pages 215-230)    1. Like the late March announcement (in 1990) about the losses, Oracle had to do another announcement in late September which mentioned they made losses of another $36M. As a result, Oracle’s stock which used to be over $25 tanked down to the range of $4 to $6.   2. Ellison himself was in a tight spot financially because he didn’t sell any of his stock and was financing his luxury lifestyle partly with his salary and another big part via money borrowed against his stocks. Usually appreciation of the stocks would offset the interest rate on the borrowing but this tanking of the stock could have forced him to sell his stocks. Luckily he was able to gather $3M via selling most of the Cadence Design System’s shares he had accumulated by being on their board.   3. Oracle did layoffs, restructured the company, and became aggressive in collecting pending payments to improve its cash-flow situation. They were able to borrow $170M from a syndicate of banks.    4. Also, were able to negotiate a deal with Nippon Steel to get $200M by providing essentially some Oracle stocks in exchange. Though in the end the final deal was for $80M in exchange for Oracle Japan stocks as Oracle was able to bounce back during the negotiations period.

Creating a gaming app is both an art and a science. Ludo has always been a household favourite in India, and my research supported its potential to become a popular real-money gaming app. With limited funds, I singlehandedly created Ludo Empire. When we launched in 2019, we were the first in the country to have a real-money Ludo game, and after our success, competitors followed suit. Fast forward to today: we’ve grown into a team of 80+ talented individuals. The game creation process has evolved to an autopilot system where my team handles every aspect from R&D to customer service. Despite this growth, one key value remains unchanged — quality over quantity. Currently, we are only operating 5 games with a cumulative user base of 30 million. The Roti, Kapda Paisa aur Makaaan Principle: I was asked three questions at the recent AWS / CNBC TV 18 Gametech conference, and I thought of sharing them here! 1. What's your view on 'game funding and investments' Gaming, unlike most tech businesses, makes money (profits) from Day 1. Look at the greats like Atari and EA and current heroes like King of Candy Crush fame. Getting funded in gaming happens only IF: - You are doing something unproven and unchartered. (Small amounts) - Buying companies to roll up and then list (An investment biz, not a gaming business.) Thus, "Getting funded to 'figure out how to make money' is the most bizarre idea in gaming. It's stupid if not 1 or 2". 2. Profitable application of AI in gaming I believe in the Roti, Kapda and Makaan hierarchy of everything in life. The Roti and Kapda in AI are the basics. At Games2win India Pvt Ltd, we've moved 100% of our translation costs and 80% of our 2D artwork to AI applications, saving tons of money per month. So, the lesson is to start with the lowest rung and move upwards in any 'new tech'. That's my approach. 3. Indian Gaming Outlook? I'm an ardent student of History. What made the most money for India? EXPORTS! First came cotton bales, then garment exports, diamond polishing, and IT services. Now, the time has come for a Digital Product as a Service (PAAS) where we own the IP and make it earn money globally. So we wanna make games for global markets only. The future for coders/startup in the hands of AI - a lesson from extinct bands of the music industry One of the most exciting times of my life was getting on a stage with drumsticks and playing rock music with my band. Shivam Kharwal (lead guitar), Shubham Tilara (keyboards), Kunal Chugh (Bass Guitar) Silky Prajapati, Rashmikant Jha, Ramit Tyagi (all lead singers) were the other band members. It was awesome fun and a source of relaxation from the breathless pursuit for my startup hustle. Nowadays, rock bands are an extinct species. With the advent of digital music creation platforms - the drummers, the lead guitarists, the bassists, and the keyboard players are replaced by computers. Only solo vocalists and computer-generated music remain. Yes, they bring in drummers, guitarists etc. to add superficial embellishments to the track, but no one knows them. Gone are the days of Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin, AC/DC, Metallica, Iron Maiden etc. and their eclectic artists. We knew their drummers, guitarists, and keyboard masters. Now, they are mostly faceless - nameless. The moment generative music came (from the various music software), these artists faded into the black. That's what generative computer music did. Now, we have an OpenAI o1 model that can write brilliant code. It achieved a mind-blowing Elo rating of 1807 - a super expert level. Given the proper inputs, it can produce the work of 5 developers' weeks' effort in less than an hour. It is scary! It will replace a bunch of low-skilled coders in no time (maybe 5 years or less). When the 1st generation of computer-generated music software came, people sneered at them that in no circumstances a skilled guitarist or a drummer be replaced by a machine. Tell that to a guitarist and drummer who come in for gig work to add layers to recorded tracks for low wages. Their torn denim may not be a fashion choice but more of an economic reality. The lives of coders are going to change exactly like that. The computer-generated code will make the software development, testing, and deployment super fast and mostly human-less affair. The tech folks will be there to architect the products and add embellishments. That's the future. And it is coming fast. The startups that react first to this, will win big. The rest will rue their chances. For hard-nosed tech lovers, there is no greater joy than creating an awesome product. For a drummer like me, there is no greater joy than hitting the bass drum and the crash cymbal hard and having the 10,000-watt music reverberate in the arena to give you an adrenaline rush. But, nothing beats the generative power of computers and AI. If the music industry - the pinnacle of creativity and stardom, didn't survive that, what chance do the tech graduates have? Another big ed-tech ‘Unacademy’ is up for sale, merger or bailout. Company fired 250 of their employees yesterday and is struggling with finances. It has approached the likes of Allen, PhysicsWallah, K12 Techno and others. It was also in talks with K12 Techno about the merger but looks like those talks are not advancing. Company has raised $877 million till date and company is searching for a respectable way out. Unacademy's situation highlights the potential turbulence within the EdTech sector. While the industry has seen immense growth, companies are now facing increased competition and the need for profitability. What are your views?

The Intention of Intention Starting now, 700+ million people in India will send at least 30 people a "Happy Diwali" message each. That's 21 billion messages sent today and tomorrow Great Intention? Break it down: 98% of messages will be forwarded—the better the image, graphics, and animation, the better the forwards. Of these “forwards”, 98% will be deleted, many not getting read. 2% will hand-type the message with a personal touch The Intention of Intention: "Wishing people" - Genuinely wishing Humans well is now a RARE human trait. (Blame it on life, challenge etc) - Instead of sending one message to 30 people in 1 day, sending one message to 1 person daily will be 1000x more potent than a Diwali. It will be read, appreciated, and replied to. Lastly, a person does not "have" to be a "contact" on WhatsApp. Real Intentions take genuine intentions to manifest. So wishing people we don't know is the real effort of our 'wish you X' intention #Dhandhekibaat - creating, not copying.
