Dhoni! The nightmare to Hotstar and Jio Cinema. At the end of this post, I have two links where the Hotstar and Jio executes tell us why Dhoni makes their life so interesting and so difficult. Don't miss to watch. The problem is traffic. Dhoni can take it to astronomical levels. One common solution to this problem is autoscaling. But... hmm... that just does not do magic. Autoscaling does not work when there are traffic spikes i.e., sudden increase in taffic. For prominent cricket matches, hotstar observes spikes of about 1M users per minute adding to the number of active users. A star batsman gets out and the traffic drops by several millions in that minute. This kind of spike is harmful for backend services. Funny problem for hostar is that if users press the back button (instead of just closing the browser), the traffic goes to home page. If homepage was configured for lesser traffic, it gets into trouble. There could be more challenges. What if AWS has no capacity (in a specific AZ) to provision servers to you? So, autoscaling does not always work. Say, you use step-wise scaling, i.e., say, 10 servers at a time with the objective to scale up to 800 from 100. This is too slow. 1 M requests per second, 10 TB of video bandwidth per second (75% of total internet bandwidth available in India) - These numbers are mind boggling! Even the ISPs can get choked delivering this kind of traffic. Streaming services face these challenges all the time. Royal wedding, IPL finals, Trump's activities, and so on. How do you prepare the platform for such spikes? Hotstar uses 3000 machines with 36 CPUs and 72GB RAM, spread across different regions, just to generate the load that hits the platform for load testing. The testing they do to face the spikes is called "Tsunami" testing. A breaking point is calculated for each service. This number is then used to decide the scale of infrastructure. How to solve this problem, then? 1) Use buffer to account for spikes.  2) Pre-warm the infrastructure. So, the uptime is low.  3) Find the right metrics on which scaling can happen "anticipating" a spike, not after a spike has happened. For example, when drinks break ends, expect high load.  4) Use a variety of EC2 instance types. This diversity (memory intesive, compute optimized, etc) can save you if the change in traffic pattern requires a specific resource type.  5) Decide which of your services are P0 and which are less important. Upfront declaration such as that would allow you to reduce resource usage on less important services (and make them available for P0 ones). For example, movie recommendation service is less important than live video delivery esp., when Dhoni is batting. Finally, I note that hotstar and Jio prepare harder for IPL finals than our cricket teams! I should learn something new with this new gig.   In the search of the gig, I noticed that in almost all the spaces news portal TOI, HT, Mint etc dominates in the search category because of their Domain authority, but most of their posts are just a bunch of paragraphs, with no proper consumable details for the uses and users just ended up clicking on the affiliated posts mentioned out there in the hope that google 1st result should have some value but it’s a myth.   So my plan starts will have a good looking blog about online best electronics and home/kitchen appliances because I have a huge interest in the online electronics shopping from AC to Fans everything.   In the current scenario most of the blog websites are based on WordPress, but there is no learning if I go ahead with WordPress. Why is quick commerce working in India when it didn't in the USA and so many other countries? 1. This reduces the area to be covered for quick commerce companies. Their target audience (the top 1%) lives exactly in these ares - which are either office areas like HSR layout or housing society complexes like Prestige Falcon City. 2. "Kai dino se shikayat nahi jamaane se" - This is the part of the lyrics from one of the hindi film songs. The translation of this is : No complaints against the world for many days. I think this is an ideal state to be in. No complaints against anyone. This is so peaceful and content state. And initially this may seem difficult. One may say that there will be some or the other problem. I agree. But if we see the problem in a different perspective, we can move from the complaining state to the grateful state. To start with, we can think the problem is giving me the opportunity to work upon to solve the problem. And practicing possibility thinking will help in reaching that mindset to move away from complains. And regular practicing may change this from "Kai dino se shikayat nahi jamaane se" to "Kai saalon se shikyat nahi jamaane se" which translates to " No complain against the world for many years" By the way those who understands Hindi and enjoys listening to songs, this is a good song. He is simply looking for gaining connections and after few days he will start consulting and create his topmate account to have 1-1. This comment might be controversial but I had to write this after seeing Srijit's approach towards job hunting and his posts around his current financial condition. I want everyone to read my whole comment and then decide if you also feel the same. Just for information I had added his connection and also commented CFBR for reach. As he was looking for data scientist role, there was no open position in my organisation. Whatever condition he had mentioned in all his posts, I don't question them. And I am empathetic towards his situation. Now let me come to the point. I have noticed few things on his approach: 1) Srijit has been consistently posting same posts every single day like 5 times a day with same content but different format. And then he shares those same post again on his profile. This he had been doing since last 1 months almost. You can check that out in his LinkedIn profile. 2) Few of his posts have got a good reach and I can say he might have received overall around 10K comments and 150+ reposts. 3) A lot many people have been reaching out to him over DM and comments and trying to help him. Thats really amazing and proud of this community. 4) Few of the people also had commented that he is not responding to any of the DMs. Not sure why. 5) Even some of his posts starts like this "Not getting positive responses/helps from anyone". I don't know what was his expectations. Why would he do all this? GAINING SYMPATHY or GAINING FOLLOWERS/CONNECTIONS or A REAL CASE I want to tell you Srijit that your approach is really bad and terrible for whatever reason you have to do all this. People understood it and thats the reason your posts reach is going down now. WHAT HE SHOULD HAVE DONE? <Wrote it in first comment due to character exceeding in the post> Note that the LinkedIn posting approach to get a job will always be the most slowest ROI than reaching out to people in person/1-1. I have not encountered anyone getting a job just by doing that. You have to appear for interviews and perform as per expectation. Noone will pay you or offer you if you will not look like a good addition to the growth of the company. MY THOUGHTS: I feel he is faking and gaining sympathy(I wish I am wrong here) and gaining connections. He is just looking for a job switch with better pay and gaining sympathy will have greater results in terms of offers/interview calls. If you change the address in object2, it also changes in object1: object2.address.city = "London"; console.log(object1.address.city); // Output: "London" R𝐞a𝐬o𝐧: If the object contains nested objects, the shallow copy holds references to the original nested objects. 𝐒o𝐥u𝐭i𝐨n: 𝐃𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐂𝐨𝐩𝐲 A deep copy duplicates every level of the object, ensuring no shared references between the original and the copy. 🚀 How to Create a Deep Copy: 1. Arjun Vijay Imagine ordering a Dosa Pan at 00:45 AM because your old ones handle broke, or a Mixer Grinder at 6:45 AM when your current one suddenly malfunctions. Picture yourself needing a mosquito bat in a remote Airbnb late at night, or the convenience of having 10kg bags of rice delivered straight to your door without carrying the carts to parking lot neither carrying in lifts, not to mention daily grocery runs and last-minute orders of socks or underwear before heading to outstation. These are all my real experiences, showing how quick commerce is set to completely transform traditional e-commerce. The new era has already begun, and it's just a matter of time before everyone catches up.
