Data correlation – often the missing link I found this interesting connection between broadband penetration and GDP. Who could have thought of that !! This was in ET Sept 10th edition that ran an article on increasing data consumption in the country. See image. I was in a review once with my CFO who asked if everything is going well in my account as she noticed that the profitability has been going down. She specifically enquired if there are service delivery issues or escalations. And she was spot on…There were issues. Customer Satisfaction and profitability are directly proportional. Another interesting aspect, I’ve found is wallet share and growth in a specific account. While common sense tells that the two should be directly proportional, it really depends on the baseline taken for comparison. On a small baseline, despite the account having grown, the wallet share might have gone down. This is because, someone else might have won a large deal that impacts your wallet share. I always believed that revenue growth and wallet share have to be seen in tandem as it tells a story of how the account is performing including how competition is performing. The other day, I was reviewing account plans for one of my clients and found that their NPS data did not correlate well with their customer personas. On deeper analysis, we found that the “promoters” in the NPS were not the project sponsors. Voila. Action was noted to tweak the relationship management priorities. Key lesson learnt is that, while the absolute metrics have to be reviewed, correlation of data points across metrics is where the real insight is. What’s your correlation story? A few takeaways from the recently concluded CPhI +PMEC India. It's a nice venue. Could be better. we were all cribbing of how it used to take hours getting out of Goregaon venue. and it's the same here now. Accommodation options are limited in the vicinity and room price gouging rampant. Why not take it across the country, like CPhI Europe does. Maybe rotate between Delhi, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad. Goa even. After all we are at least as diverse as Europe is. The Registration Hall is like purgatory for most exhibitors and a pain for the visitors. I had to double back for various reasons many times across three days. Those exhibiting there have already voiced their unhappiness with the footfall. Some are willing to walk out of the exhibition here as it doesn't meet their expectations. I noticed some familiar names were absent. The food sucks. Mostly Delhi food is much better. But the exhibition featured food on the same level as Mumbai which is saying a lot about the vendors abilities. While Delhi has a lot of flights from all parts of the country, there are issues flying into and staying in Delhi during the middle of the biggest season. Wedding season. Rental cars and party venues are both difficult to get. The weather is nice but it's just the temperature as everything else about it sucked. The pollution is the biggest reason not to have the exhibition here. A rotating venue system will to some extent overcome the fatigue of seeing the same stalls in the same layouts. Innovation focus is absent and most of the tech on display was not new. The absence of the Chinese was not made up with Taiwanese, Japanese and other pavilions. Something new should be there to attract the eyeballs and companies cannot be expected to come up with it. I get that it is a mammoth task to organise this, but it seems like the teams are overwhelmed or in a state of ennui. #CPhIIndia #PMECIndia
