  • Reusable Launch Vehicle - Structural Analysis of Variable Landing Gear Mechanism

International Research Journal of Engineering and Technology (IRJET)

Efforts are being taken to make space missions more affordable. Reusable Launch Vehicle (RLV) is one such innovation aimed to reduce the manufacturing costs drastically. Developments are being made to make improvements on the already existing landers and also to make the full rocket reusable. This article examines the present state of the technology for reusable launch vehicles. and also aims to provide an enhancement to the already existing landing legs used on reusable launch vehicles (RLV)…

Efforts are being taken to make space missions more affordable. Reusable Launch Vehicle (RLV) is one such innovation aimed to reduce the manufacturing costs drastically. Developments are being made to make improvements on the already existing landers and also to make the full rocket reusable. This article examines the present state of the technology for reusable launch vehicles. and also aims to provide an enhancement to the already existing landing legs used on reusable launch vehicles (RLV) which can help the rocket land on uneven surfaces. This landing mechanism employs honeycomb shock absorber to absorb the energy during landing. The main purposefulness of this idea is to avoid the moment which topples the rocket during landing on uneven terrain. The paper also provides results from various analyses conducted to support the proposed idea.

  • Study of Characteristics of Different Liquid Propellants for Reusable Launch Vehicles

International Journal of Science, Engineering and Technology

In this study, quantitative and qualitative analysis of different liquid fuels like LH2, Liquid Methane and RP-1 was carried out by taking various parameters like Equivalence ratio, molecular mass, mass, density, soot, Ignition delay time, Specific Impulse, Thrust, the pressure inside the combustion chamber and storability. A tabular representation of all three fuels with an oxidizer (LOX) is used to determine how different propellant combinations perform at different given conditions. An…

A tabular representation of all three fuels with an oxidizer (LOX) is used to determine how different propellant combinations perform at different given conditions. An average payload mass that lies in a standard payload range for small satellite launchers was considered. The mass values were calculated to determine the size of the rocket and the performance of different propellant combinations. Mass flow rates of different propellant combinations were calculated to determine the engine requirements for achieving the total mass flow rate. Bio-fuel such as Ethanol was studied, but it did not stand out as an efficient fuel for the booster stage.

  • RECENT ADVANCES IN JOINING TECHNIQUES AND ITS PARAMETERS FOR ALUMINIUM ALLOYS- REVIEW

International Journal of Universal Science and Engineering

The primary goal of industries is to provide higher-quality products at a lower cost and to increase productivity. The primary goal of industries is to provide higher-quality products at a lower cost and to increase productivity. Welding is the most important and widely used method of joining two similar or dissimilar materials. Especially automobile and aircraft manufacturers are interested in using innovative processes and advanced materials to reduce weight, cost, and increase part performance. Techniques for joining lightweight dissimilar materials, particularly aluminium, steel, and plastics, are becoming more essential in the fabrication of hybrid structures and components for engineering applications. The most broadly used joining methods for aluminium alloys are TIG, MIT, Variable Polarity Plasma Arc, Laser Beam Welding (LB), Friction Stir Welding, Riveting. However, Aluminium alloys are difficult to weld due to their high conductivity, reflectivity, reactivity, and coefficient of thermal expansion. In this review paper, the research and progress of three main welding techniques for joining Al alloy are reviewed. Which is Friction Stir Welding (FSW), Laser Beam Welding (LB), and Riveting along with its key parameters and applications. The key roles in recent progress in the welding of Aluminium alloys to provide a basis for future research.

  • STUDY OVER DIFFERENT NOZZLE PROFILES FOR NOZZLE FLOW SEPARATION CONTROLS

International Journal of Universal Science and Engineering

Since the dawn of the space age, flow separation issue in rocket nozzles has been an unwanted phenomenon for the engineers. So, naturally, this became a task for the engineers which is to be brought under control. But it turned out to be a daunting task; even though many were able to explain the physics behind this phenomenon, it is not fully understood even to the present day. So, there are not many methods, which explains how to control or suppress this phenomenon. This paper aims to study…

But it turned out to be a daunting task; even though many were able to explain the physics behind this phenomenon, it is not fully understood even to the present day. So, there are not many methods, which explains how to control or suppress this phenomenon. This paper aims to study about two of those few methods which affectively are able to suppress flow separation in rocket nozzles.
