Jadhav was then brought on board at Paytm to start Paytm Money for stock trading, and eventually started his own, called DhanHQ. Shah worked at Acko before founding Onsurity, an employee health benefits platform. India’s internet ecosystem is full of stories of founders starting up, shutting down, being acquired, of being forced out, before they build something that works. Many founders who exit their businesses reinvest in new ventures. Freecharge’s Kunal Shah has funded over 200 startups so far. Venture capitalists also often back founders who have tried something new and failed. India’s startup ecosystem is still innovating and is in the process of maturing. We Come From Two Indias One where the rich can get away with murder. The other where the poor are arrested for trivial crimes. One where a 17-year-old rich brat can ram his unregistered Porsche, killing two innocent people, and be released on bail after just 15 hours by writing an essay. The other where an ordinary citizen is arrested simply for expressing views against a political party. One where money suppresses all crimes. The other where jails are filled with hundreds of people languishing for years, despite not being found guilty by any court, and most of these are young, barely literate, and too poor to afford bail. Navigating Koo was like trying to read a map upside down, in the dark, without glasses. Charming, but not quite there. 🐤The Echo Chamber Dilemma: Instead of becoming the melting pot of diverse opinions, Koo turned into an echo chamber faster than you can say "Koo". It's like going to a concert only to realize the band only knows one song. Repetitive, much? 🐤The Celebrity Mirage: Sure, a few big names hopped onto the Koo train, tweeting, sorry, *Kooing* their hearts out. But it turned out to be more of a cameo appearance than a permanent residency. The tall poppy syndrome will begin to show up everywhere. In India, we have economy propped up by mostly government spending. Then the GCC brigade has the highest levels of disposable income of any professional sector. And this sector is tied to the global economy which is pretty much the American economy. And the only sector that can fuel Government spending are folks whose paycheck can be taxed at source, which is the salaried class. You can see how critical this sector is because there is additional tax for the top bracket in this category. Almost a disincentive to have a high salary bracket. Coupled with freebies culture and a huge swathe of population that is unorganised, we have a very huge deficit that needs to be managed by the middle class.

If you earn 10 lakhs in India, you pay around 54,000 in income tax. If you earn 20 lakhs in India, you pay around 2,96,400 in income tax. If you earn 40 lakhs in India, you pay around 9,20,000 in income tax. 4x income leads to 17x tax!! ************ And while most countries punish high earners, India also has something different which is: Out of 140+ crore population, only 6.8 crores filed Income tax returns in 22-23. and out of 6.8 Crores, 4.6 Crores paid ZERO tax. Crazy how expensive public cloud is in India (or maybe everywhere). A machine with 2 cores, 8 GB memory, 256 GB SSD costs rupees 10k. Renting a similar machine in the cloud is about Rs. 5k per month. It's like shelling out 50 lakhs every month for rent on a house worth a crore. The convenience of getting a machine with a click of button, or many such machines with a line of code is way too expensive. I think we are better off building our own infrastructure wisely, and scale as we grow. Haven't heard of a company that people loved, going out of business for lack of machines that were instantly not available.

Swiggy can hit 600-700 inr demand is huge got 4 lots in #IPO and bought some in open market. Zomato ipo was around 50-60 now it’s 250. Both Zomato India and Swiggy are bellwether stocks for #india’s affluent and middle class economy as current 100M affluent with spending power expands to 300-400M and middle class around 300-400M expands to 600-800M their valuation can be 10-20x. As pyramids invert game and playbook will flip. This is a duopoly markets and we love duopoly firms

What is this concept of "handling pressure" nowadays? I thought work was about delivering stuff and getting money in exchange and going home. I don't understand what need was there to make work so life threatening that now we are not just expected to do the task, but to handle "pressure" as well, so much that it became LIFE THREATENING as if we are soldiers fighting in the borders. I thought our esteemed defence forces were defending us from outside threat, EXACTLY SO WE CAN WORK AND LIVE IN PEACE. But looks like even civilians are going to the borders when going to just their workplaces to earn a livelihood. It's sad that we are having to write to complain about this nowadays, seems like this would keep going if people don't talk about it. This should have been basic human etiquette and courtesy: "Don't kill your workers". People losing their life because of work is JUST NOT DONE. Especially if there is not supposed to be any life hazard associated with the nature of the work itself.

Why India’s Middle Class Is Left Behind: A System Built on Their Shoulders, Yet Neglected If you’re middle class, you’ll work hard, pay your taxes, and get by, but you’ll rarely get the support, opportunities, or benefits that are more freely available to either the wealthy or the underprivileged. Why the Middle Class is Overlooked: No Voice or Representation: Unlike the wealthy, who can lobby for favorable policies, and the poor, who benefit from government schemes, the middle class lacks proper representation. In political debates, they’re often overlooked. They don’t belong to the billionaire elites, nor do they fall under the income brackets that qualify for subsidies or social benefits. For example, in 2023, India’s budget allocated ₹79,000 crore for food subsidies and other welfare schemes aimed at the economically weaker sections, while there was little in the way of tax relief or support for the middle-income earners who contribute a significant portion of their earnings as tax. High Taxes, Few Benefits: The middle class bears a heavy tax burden but gets little in return. They are not poor enough to benefit from subsidies and not rich enough to utilize tax loopholes or exemptions like the wealthy. In fact, according to data from the Finance Ministry, the middle class contributes to more than 50% of India’s income tax collection, yet most welfare schemes cater to other sections of society. Where does that money go? It’s used to fund large-scale government schemes for the poor or to create infrastructure for the elite, leaving the middle class in a limbo of high taxes and minimal benefits. The Corporate World Thrives on Middle-Class Labor: Corporates, especially in sectors like IT, banking, and finance, rely heavily on middle-class workers to fuel their growth. Yet, in return, they get job insecurity, stagnant wages, and long hours. A 2021 survey revealed that nearly 40% of corporate employees in India work more than 50 hours a week, well beyond the standard 40-hour workweek. Inflation Erodes Their Savings: Even simple things like affording a home or quality education for their children have become distant dreams for many. A 2022 Reserve Bank of India report highlights that inflation disproportionately affects middle-class households with fixed incomes, while corporate profits soar and government relief is minimal. No Social Security: India offers little to no safety net for its middle-income earners. Whether it’s healthcare, retirement planning, or education, the middle class has to fend for itself. If you lose your job or face a medical emergency, you are largely on your own. If we don’t start demanding change, no one else will stand up for us. The reality is that the middle class has always been self-sufficient, but now, more than ever, we need a system that acknowledges our importance and ensures that the future is brighter, not just for the rich and the poor, but for everyone.
