First of all his company should stop spreading lies that it's free of cost It's free of cost because their Maps platform is using OSM(Open Street Maps) data which is an open-source Maps database so they don't have to pay anything to them but can say for sure that the accuracy of OSM data won't be that great in a developing and rapidly changing country like India where in a single day anything can happen. Recently I have gone through Hyperparamter tuning ability on GCP. I have explored two flavours of HPT namely Vertex HPT and Ray HPT. Though both are quite usefull , I have noticed some difference between them. Vertex HPT is managed HPT services from google cloud. It is quite powerfull to run 100s of concurrent threads. It is easy to use and integrates seamlessly with other GCP services. On the downside, its support for search space algorithm are limited. Ray HPT is built on top of Ray Framework. It is quite flexible and provides more control to implementor. On bright side, it supports wide range of search algorithms. Also, it is not limited to google cloud but can be implemneted on kubernetes clusters also. so, when to use what, Go for RAY HPT when you need more control(if not on cloud, comfortable in setting and managing your own cluster) while Vertex HPT will be saviour if you want quick and easy solution(minimum infra management).   #MachineLearning #GCP #VertexAi #DataScience #Data #HPT #rayhpt #ray

After the Reliance and Disney India merger, Disney+ Hotstar will serve as the only streaming platform. At first, it was said that Disney+ Hotstar would merge into Reliance's JioCinema, creating one big platform. Then Reliance was reportedly considering having two separate streaming platforms, one for sports and one for entertainment. However, recent reports suggest that Reliance has decided to keep Hotstar as the primary platform by merging JioCinema into it. The newly consolidated platform will reportedly be called "Jio Hotstar." The decision to merge JioCinema into Hotstar was influenced by Hotstar's superior technological infrastructure. Initially, only sports content, such as IPL, was expected to shift to Hotstar, but now it is reported that the two platforms will be fully merged. Zerodha's 1.5+ million PDF contract notes processing time was reduced from 8 hours to 25 minutes is truly impressive Nomad was used instead of Kubernetes as an orchestrator. Zerodha always impresses with their engineering work. Here is another story of how rearchitecting helped Zerodha improve its overall performance and reduce costs significantly, driving customer and product success I will keep the story very short and leave a link to read the entire blog. Zerodha had a challenge processing millions of contract notes that had to be sent to the customers after executing the stocks, and this had to be completed in a day; sometimes, it took 7 to 8 hours. The old stack ran on a large single vertically scaled server to complete the process, which was very time-consuming and inefficient. The new stack is horizontally scalable and elastic. Worker nodes are used to complete the job independently. AWS S3 stores and processes the files by each worker node across various stages. Redis stores the state of each job and is also used as a backend broker, distributing the jobs among the workers. Each job's execution is distributed across EC2 instances, which write to shared storage S3 Nomad is used as an orchestration framework, and, along with Terraform, it's used to provision the nomad cluster, where auto-scaling groups are leveraged, each handling different groups of servers for various jobs like generating pdf, sending emails, and signing PDFs. Nomad deploys job worker programs on the designated nodes. Rundeck is used for administration management and execution After the processing is completed, the environment is destroyed with the help of a monitoring system along with Redis #zerodha #performanceengineering #systemdesign #performance #aws

The harsh reality is that people are becoming lazier by the day. The more online apps we use, the lazier we become. Let’s explore why it's important to avoid online grocery shopping, at least occasionally. 1. **Time lost, not saved**: While apps like Blinkit promise delivery in 10 minutes, you often spend an hour searching, comparing, and placing orders. If you receive wrong or expired products, you're stuck in long customer service calls, emails, and follow-ups. So, did you really save time? 2. **Losing negotiation skills**: Shopping online means paying fixed prices, and with it, we lose the ability to negotiate. 3. **Social disconnection**: Going to the market isn’t just about buying groceries—it's about connecting with shopkeepers, neighbors, and being part of your community. You talk, you learn, and you engage with society. 4. **No peace at night**: Even though shops close, shopping doesn't. People now spend their nights scrolling through shopping apps, disrupting their peace and rest. Smartphones should make us smarter—not only in convenience but in understanding what's right for us.

After mentoring 100s of folks and having 1000+ sessions on different platforms including topmate.io, Scaler, Crio.Do and others, I have observed that folks are not comfortable speaking 🗣️ up with-in their team, with colleagues, with Seniors and even Managers. This is the sole responsibility of Senior folks in the team to encourage juniors by asking questions in groups instead of clarifying their doubts 1:1. This actually encourages and opens up juniors to ask questions & get into open discussions. And in my experience one of the most underrated traits is, asking questions or looking for help without fear of being judged. So whenever in doubt 💭 🤨, ask questions even if they are silliest in your mind. It opens up new doors 🚪 and gives you wings 💸. #ask #curious #discussions

I recently got promoted to Senior Software Engineer at Intuit.
