Here are some key highlights from the report: –> Planted 500K trees, greened 3500 acres of land, promoted organic farming, offsetting 250K tons of carbon emissions. –> Empowered 10K+ women through vocational training in hair styling. –> Educated 10K+ students on climate change in 76 schools. –> Delivered clean water to 500 households in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. –> Our efforts are estimated to release 500K tons of Oxygen through 5 lakh planted trees over 20 years. 🌟 The Value of Market Visits: A Lesson in Execution 🌟 I recently had the chance to spend a day with our local sales team in Bangalore market and during visit, team took me to a hypermart called Brigade, a huge Self Service store being serviced by a GT channel partner. This experience served as a reminder of how essential market visits are for ensuring flawless execution. During our time in the store, we focused on analyzing the consumer sell out price of Saffola Honey against our competitors. Post discovering the absence of price call out, one of our team members (sai kumar: TSE) took the initiative to check the pricing at the counter and made an important discovery: the stock inward that was supposed to happen earlier had not been executed correctly, leading to discrepancies in both quantity and consumer pricing. By addressing this issue quickly with the store manager, our team was able to secure an order of 45k including few more categories, an opportunity that might have otherwise slipped through the cracks without that crucial price check. Clear demonstration of one of Marico values- Bias for action. 💡 Key Takeaway: Aligning the team around a clear objective—like checking market execution— in this case focusing on price and RPI against a key competitor led us to uncover a larger issue that had a direct impact on sales. Market visits are not just about observation; they are about engaging with the market and ensuring we are executing flawlessly. Half way through the book, "Harsh Realities by Harsh Mariwala and Prof Ram Charan. What a phenomenal read. Producing an excerpt here: (Context: Harsh Mariwala is the founder of Marico Limited, a consumer goods industry giant. This was when Mr. Mariwala had just demerged his company from the family company and was looking for a team who help him run the newly carved entity) "Harsh knew that he couldn't do everything by himself. He didn't want a centralized decision making organization where nothing moved without his say-so. Rather, he envisioned an institution that would survive time. Harsh needed people who were experts in their discipline and who could help him accelerate the growth of the business. So he was intent on inviting others more educated and capable, from whom he could learn and multiply his own competencies and those of the organization." The book goes on to tell us how Mr. Mariwala went out to hunt for the best talent available in the market against the convention of traditional family run businesses where appointments and promotions were done on the basis of likes and dislikes. He paid special attention to the HR department. Made sure that the Head of People Management sits at all internal high table business meetings. His way of signaling that the HR function was one of the top most priorities for him. This teaches us that having a dedicated team towards acquiring, training and managing HUMAN RESOURCE in an organization is as important as having an A-team for functions such as Finance or Marketing. The Whole Truth Foods team recently participated in a gifting expo in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. Despite taking a modest stall, accoutred only with energy and smiles, we must have received 200+ enquiries from gifting partners, corporate clients, distribution partners, retail chains, gyms, packaging vendors etc. Now, this isn't a humble brag. One, I don't know if this number is worth bragging about. Two, when I want to brag, I prefer doing it properly. So, back to my train of thought. What's the best practice in setting up a stall at any industry event? How do you collect leads, bucket them and get back to them? What's the system or process here? The experience felt overwhelming for us, and while we designed something on the fly, I'm keen to know how others approach these events. If you've participated in an event, do shout. #Strategy #EnvironmentalShift #Survival I #advise businesses and #coach executives. It is so often I see their discomfort or even anger against questions that they do not have good answers for. Instead of courageous and insightful exploration into questions, I often see proclivity toward wishful thinking, assurances from yes men, search for short cuts or deals with bureaucrats or politicians, astrological or baba surrender or a combination of these. At the end economic forces win, and many, at a point in time, can be reasonably predicted.

Its is so heartening to see Mumbai Police using such smart methods to get across their message o citizens! If more government departments could invest in understanding consumer behaviour and applying marketing techniques, we would probably have more success in dealing with social issues. One of my pet peeves has been the anti-smoking campaign that we are forced to watch when we watch a movie. I sincerely doubt if anyone sitting in a metro PVR type multiplex can connect or identify with the situations and protagonists shown in these ads. If I were working for the health department, I would go back to the fundamental principles of marketing - segmentation, targeting & positioning: first segment the target audience in a meaningful manner, and then create communication customised to each distinct customer segment. #antismokingcampaign #publicservicecommunication
