India's market watchdog has recommended that several regulators oversee trade in #cryptocurrencies, documents show, the strongest signal to date that at least some authorities in the country are open to allowing the use of private #virtualassets. As India casts its votes, the conversation around virtual digital assets remains muted. However, the broader potential of Web3 could capture the interest of the next Indian government. While India played a major role in coordinating the policies around G20 Crypto, lots needs to be done back at home to help scale the larger blockchain based ecosystem. India has recently launched the National Blockchain Framework (NBF), featuring the Vishvasya-Blockchain Technology Stack as part of a national initiative led by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). This framework aims to enhance digital trust and streamline public service delivery through Blockchain-as-a-Service (BaaS). Key components of the Vishvasya stack include NBFLite, a lightweight platform designed for rapid prototyping by startups and academic institutions, and Praamaanik, a blockchain-enabled mobile app verification solution.
