Digit Insurance General Insurance, a leading player in India's insurance sector, has raised Rs 1,176 crore ($141 million) from anchor investors ahead of its much-anticipated Initial Public Offering (IPO)! According to regulatory filings accessed from the Bombay Stock Exchange Limited, Digit Insurance has offered its anchor investors 4,32,57,009 equity shares at an issue price of Rs 272 each. Heavyweight names include SBI, ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company Limited, Axis Mutual Fund, Mirae Asset Global Investments, Tata Group Flexi, Motilal Oswal Financial Services Ltd, PGIM India Mutual Fund, and Edelweiss Financial Services Limited. Notably, 11 domestic mutual funds have been allocated a substantial portion of these shares. The public offering, which began on May 15th and will run until May 17th, 2024, offers shares in the price band of Rs 258-272 with a minimum bid quantity of 55 shares. This move comes as Go Digit moves closer to its IPO, as outlined in its Draft Red Herring Prospectus (DRHP), where the company proposed to raise funds through the issue of equity shares amounting to Rs 1,125 crore, along with an offer for sale of up to 5,47,66,392 equity shares. While the road to the IPO hasn't been without its challenges, including a fine by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) over a delay in filing joint venture agreement particulars, Go Digit seems poised for a strong market debut. With Go Digit Infoworks Services holding the most significant stake in the firm at 80.57%, followed by other major stakeholders such as TVS Shriram Growth, A91 Engineering, Faering Capital, and Peak XV, all eyes are on the company's growth trajectory. The company's financial performance has been robust. During the nine months of FY24, it posted a net revenue of Rs 5,631 crore and a profit of Rs 129 crore. In FY23, it posted a revenue of Rs 5,909 crore and a profit of Rs 35.5 crore. This successful fundraising by Go Digit General Insurance reflects the current market trend, as seen in recent similar endeavours like travel tech firm TBO Tek, which raised Rs 689 crore ($83 million) from its anchor investors. We have continued to grow in Q1 courtesy strong disbursements across all regions. This sets the tone for the remaining three quarters of the FY’2024-25. We are now in touching distance to cross the first milestone of Rs.500 crs AUM. All through this, quality first mindset has enabled us to achieve robust PAR (0+ dpd) numbers at 3.38%, of which GNPA is at 1.57% and NNPA is at 1.12% as of June 30, 2024. Collection efficiency has been at 99.5% incrementally on a monthly basis and we continue to be credit and collection focused company. From here on, several milestones await Star HFL over the next 4-6 quarters: ·      Traction in business aided by network expansion, strengthening capital base and liability scale up should enable Star crossing AUM of Rs.1000 crs ·      Possible rating upgrade should await Star HFL as the Company scales up keeping quality intact ·      The company should look ahead to Transition to the National Stock Exchange post qualifying enlisted criteria and subject to all approvals in place I feel that this is the beginning and much more can be achieved if Star HFL as a team continues focus on basics and do the right thing We look forward to expanding in our operational and new geographies, on board quality manpower, strengthening our processes and leverage digitization to optimize the overall performance. Q1 performance gives us the confidence to continue the growth momentum and focus on creating good quality loan book Macros for affordable housing finance companies like Star HFL too have gotten bolstered through the recent budgetary announcement that provides the right framework to assist in creation of more than 30 million homes. 🚀 RBI's New Framework to Boost Priority Sector Lending! 🏦 To bridge regional credit gaps, the RBI has updated its incentive structure for banks: Higher Incentives: From FY25, banks get a 125% credit weight for loans in districts where per capita priority sector credit is under ₹9,000. 💰💡 Earlier Threshold: Previously, this incentive applied to districts with under ₹6,000 per capita credit. 📊🔍 Dis-Incentives: In high-credit districts (>₹42,000 per capita), banks will get only 90% weight. The “Balance” in any team (Views are personal) Watching CSK’s matches in this IPL has been good for cricket fans like me belonging to the Sachin/Ganguly era, because of Dhoni. In the 90s, we had master blaster Sachin while Aussies had Gilchrist and Aussies beat India on most occasions. I wondered if we exchanged Sachin for Gilchrist will be it be a good bargain in those days. The simple reason was Gilchrist would be in the team for his batting alone, and he provided Aussies the option to play an extra batsman or bowler depending on pitch conditions. In short it was all about the invaluable team balance. This need was fulfilled when Dhoni debuted in Indian team and then the team balance changed and India became a world class team which won often. If current mid and small cap rallies have led you to overallocate to Mid and small cap funds (I.e Sachin of the 90s in the portfolio) perhaps it is time to look for balance and include hybrid funds like BAF to add a flavour of Dhoni in the portfolio. CXO Chickens :: These Opportunists are opposite of what Leadership means and should be. Of late many CXOs have left PayTm and its associated firms. This is coming when the company is battling a crisis - of regulatory and customer confidence. I've been a loyal PayTm user all this while and yes, even my own confidence is shaken, but not evaporated yet. I believe they did wrong, but so do I believe that they deserve another chance too. Also, I love and respect Vijay Shekhar Sharma. But what about these chaps? They onboard a ship, supposed to be leading it when the going is good and its party time all around. They eject the moment there is real crisis to be handled. Do you think these guys deserve to be given another shot at any CXO position? Frankly, I dont. Someone may argue, that they may be leaving because they may have unearthed somethings not right inside. Then again, its hard to believe that they didn't know it before when the party was at full bloom. And if they really didn't know and were CXOs then they either aren't worthy of being CXOs or should come out and clarify themselves. Just leaving when the enforcement guys come knocking at a party, is chicken-ing out, demonstrating spineless character. I wouldn't hire any of them in my company and I think no founder would or should? (Of course, until I have heard them and discover another truth).
