I spoke at the JSW One Platforms Ltd.’s MSME Masterclass yesterday! It was a great session with MSME owners, entrepreneurs, and industry professionals. Here are 5 major points that we discussed in this session: 1) I spoke of an in-depth understanding of the mechanical properties crucial for wires used in cold forging. 2) I discussed about common materials used in wire manufacturing for cold forging. 3) It was an interesting discussion about how material composition affects the properties of the wire and the final product. 4) We talked about the impact of tolerance levels on the quality and consistency of the fasteners. 5) The final point was about the importance of quality control measures in fastener manufacturing. FTE cannot claim employment as a matter of Right Case: Karnataka High Court - Mr. Yogeesha T N vs Management Of M/s Kennametal India Ltd. (7 February, 2024) - Mere completion of the period of employment on temporary basis, does not confer any right on the worker to claim appointment. - When a person was appointed for specific period and the services were to be terminated before expiry of the term period provided in the engagement letter, he cannot be declared as a permanent employee. - When a person was employed on contract basis only, putting contract end by an employer, is not a dismissal from service. - Working for 250 days, benefit thereof is not available as the service was purely contractual and termination of his contract does not amount to retrenchment and does not attract compliance with section 25F of the ID Act. - The provision of section 25F of the ID Act does not apply to the petitioner in any manner as the petitioner has not been in continuous service for a period of 240 days immediately preceding the year from the date of termination of service. - When the term of fixed term employee had been extended for another one year and the employee does not join the work, his absence has to be treated as unauthorized absence as the same was taken without obtaining leave or permission. - The Management would not be at any fault for terminating the fixed term employee for being absent in an unauthorized for three and a half months when they had not refused employment to such an employee. - Fixed term Employee cannot claim employment as a matter of right.

UAE sun is (4) four times hotter than the sun we have Northern Nigeria yet they use CNG cars. The only downside is the installation cost. In Edo state especially Benin its done for about 350k to 450k depends on the weight and size if your car but at the end you will be the one who will enjoy it the most, because 1kg of CNG is like N200 Naira now and 12 kg is equivalent to full tank of petrol. Imagine that? Thats like N2,400 Naira for full tank. That's why you find more cars in Benin using CNG... It's all common knowledge. This is very common in Benin Republic. They've been using it for the past few years. Few Nigerians have been using it too. #India #Reliance Industries Limited has signed a one-year deal with #Russia #Rosneft to buy at least 3 million barrels of #oil a month in roubles. This will help Reliance secure oil at discounted rates at a time when the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries #OPEC+ group of oil producers is expected to extend voluntary supply cuts beyond June. The deal took effect from April 1 and Reliance will buy two cargoes of about one million barrels of Urals crude with an option to buy four more each month at a discount of $3 a barrel to the Middle East Dubai benchmark Reliance has agreed to make payment for the oil using Russia's rouble through HDFC Bank. 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗚𝗗 𝗶𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮: 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗦𝗔 📖 India enacted Environment (Protection) Amendment Rules 2015 on 7 Dec '15, which mandated Sulphur Dioxide (SO2) emission control et al, for the Thermal Power Plants (TPPs). MoEFCC, GoI, on 5 Sep '22 issued a notification Environment (Protection) Second Amendment Rules, 2022 extending earlier deadlines for TPPs to comply progressively by 31 Dec '26 depending on the category they belong to. As per a CEA report, about 525 (199 GW) out of the total 596 (209 GW) TPPs are yet to install the Flue Gas Desulphurization (FGD) System to comply with new emission norms. Only a few TPPs had FGD plants installed earlier. The capacity of TPPs complying with this rule is below 20 GW capacity, including CFBC units. FGD installation is in progress at ~25 GW capacity. The progress achieved in 8.5 years indicates that a lot more has to happen on various fronts (Rising Cost, Low Vendor base, Supply-Chain implications due to Make in India, Uncertain Execution in Brown field Sites, etc.) for Indian TPPs to become fully compliant. To have a wider perspective, let us understand the journey of FGD and other emission control initiatives of the United States of America (USA). A 2008 report suggests that nearly the entire USA was meeting air quality targets set for carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides and sulphur dioxide. Also, Lead levels in ambient air reduced by 92% than in 1980, significantly reducing the no. of children with IQs below 70 due to polluted air. Various De-SOx Technologies have evolved over decades and are commercially available in the world today. In the USA, the Clean Air Act Amendments 1990 (CAAA) became a reality on 15 Nov '90. Earlier, the 1977 amendments in the 1970 Clean Air Act establishing the National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS), mandated a percentage reduction in SO2 emissions as well as other pollutants from TPPs. Title IV, Acid Deposition Control established emission control targets for SO2 and capped its emission in post-2000 timeframe- to be met in two (2) phases: Phase-I began on 1 Jan '95 for 261 generating units (>50% units opted for low-sulphur coal), and the Phase-II began on 1 Jan 2000 with stricter norms for Phase-I units and 2500 boilers at 1000 plants. Studies also suggest that generating units shifted to installating capital-intensive FGD plants only gradually with stringent regulatory norms coming into force. A 2023 report citing US EPA’s Data illustrates that various measures had resulted in a 91% decrease in TPPs' SO2 emissions from 2002 to 2021. Coming back home, it would not be an easy task going forward in ensuring good air quality for all. Each stakeholder- government/regulatory bodies, corporations, civil society- has to religiously pursue the goal of clean air for all. It will take a few more years before we can boast of watching the stars through the pollutant-free unblurred sky. Feedback solicited... Credits to owners

Here is the real Root Cause: "A casual contract worker of IOCL went to take sample from benzene tank. Some mistake in taking that sample occurred and valve remained open after sampling. Benzene starts flowing with vapor". Why was the company using contract workers: Great money saving idea by management! No need to have many trained permanent employees at high wages, so they shop around for low cost solutions by bringing in contracted labor. The Contractor brings in the lowest cost, lowest quality workers he can hire. Then fires start..... Great job by some Indian Oil Corporation Limited (Iocl) management decision makers. Only Maintenance [ partially ] or cleaning workers [ fully is okay] can be contracted in Oil/Gas or Petrochemical industries; never the Operations staff.
