India's Mission AI unvieled by Information Technology Minister Mr Ashwini Vaishnav at ET Award Ceremony. INR 10000 Crore Masterplan for promotion of AI and AI related tech innovation is rooted in democratisation of Technology, giving access to all segments ; be it Academia,Indistray, Business ,Students and Reserchers. India is against any monopolistic controll of AI in few hands. India is also not in favour of stricter regualtion for IA as it may hamper further research and innovation at this stage. But India is certainly in favour of a balanced legal framework to prevent abuse of AI .

Not Microsoft Google or ChatGPT-maker OpenAI according to Eric Schmidt. Eric mentioned that the winner will be company on whom these companies depend for chip and it’s none other than NVIDIA. He mentioned that $300 billion are needed to put in new chip making line and there are investors and companies ready to pour such amount to bet in NVIDIA Although other companies are investing in AI chip making facilities like Microsoft, Amazon Google, Facebook Meta who have such cash flow to develop their own chips to have skin in the game and stay relevant not depending on just one supplier. But it will be billion dollar gamble. If they are not successful in meeting their goals their cash reserves and market cap will be hit hardly. It’s not the case for Nvidia. They are clear winner in this race as on date and are likely to consolidate their lead further with > booming stock valuations > Healthy cash reserves > Well planned and set up manufacturing line > well trained workforce > healthy order book > leadership position in innovation > unexplored market #AI #Chipmaking #semiconductors #digital TSMC

Here's an interesting review of a new book on India: Breaking the Mold: India’s Untraveled Path to Prosperity, Raghuram G. Rajan and Rohit Lamba https://lnkd.in/esjjqVzF Should India focus on manufacturing or the services sector? The point Rajan and Lamba make on supply chains is interesting on but Gen Z and Generation Alpha are more aware of their impact on the environment and more selective of what they consume so I wonder whether those old supply chains based on largely throw away fashion and wastage will be relevant to this new generation. There are some tremendous manufacturing skills - not in making T-shirts but exquisite materials such as silks, chiffons in India and in my MBA thesis, I studied haute couture and found that top fashion houses sourced the material for their exclusive designs from India. So agree that traditional mass manufacture may not be something India would want to bother with but upcoming, sustainable, environmentally friendly manufacturing should surely be a yes.
