Today I gave an Online Assessment of Intuit for the role of Software Engineer I. This was an internal opening and I got a referral luckily. I was able to successfully solve 3/5 questions in 1.5 hours, and maybe I would have solved 1 more question if got only a few minutes more. But the reason why I am posting this today because I got disheartened after knowing that Solutions were being sold during the time of the Assessment on various social media platforms like telegram. Yesterday my friend who also got a referral told me that someone approached him on telegram asking him whether he needed help in the OA, obviously asking him money for helping. I am a 2024 pass-out from a Tier-3 and I have been continuously practicing Leetcode, GFG, Codeforces since almost 3 years. I may not be an expert in Coding but it hurts more when people cheat on Online Assessments and the deserving people won't even get a chance for an interview of dream companies. By saying this I am not saying that I am deserving but there must be some deserving people out there whose chance to get an interview was snatched from him/her by a cheater. The problems faced by students of Tier-3 colleges are: - we don't get referrals - if somehow got a referral, our resume don't get shortlisted because of our college tier. - after all this hurdles there are cheaters all around who cheat in Online Assessments. Finishing my thoughts I would just say I am not going to give up and I will still practice everyday in a hope that I would crack a dream company someday. After 4 years in industry and multiple interviews, things that helped me crack Adobe Goldman Sachs Meesho and many others (ascending order of priority): 1) Lot of DS grinding, and yes even memorising solns to some of the problems. 2) Confidence , that you can gain only after multiple rejections and attemps. 3) Timings, when I was in job shifting mode, market was in high demand. Yes, the most important factor was easy interview opportunities , no shame in admitting it. Had I started my career today, I would be doing a lot of tussle to even get an interview call. If you are someone who is starting/ just about to enter the industry, its totally okhy if you are getting less number of interview calls, just be calm and know no industry is forver down, apna time bhi aayega! #Paytm employees have taken to the Ministry of Labour and Employment after their unfair layoff without any proper severance package. We all have been reading the brutal layoffs news for the past 2 years; one where the CEO just shows up on the Zoom call to fire 80% of the company or where security guards show up after a conference and employees are escorted. In some cases, they find a legal loophole by forcing you to admit that there was a performance issue and putting you in PIP and thereby crushing your self-confidence and then saving some money by not paying their dues after firing you. There are companies that treat their employees like trash and expect the general public to buy the narrative of "We are a family". If an employee absconds a company then it is frowned upon in the industry, the companies scare you with a bad relieving letter or failed background checks in the next company and yet these same companies face no consequences when they happily ruin the financial and mental status of their so-called "family members". With privatisation on the rise it is high time that we all voice for better labour laws in #India so that people can work peacefully. All I can say about Amazon's move to end hybrid work is that I'm glad I switched to Microsoft! Amazon's stock is up over 30% from this time last year, so it doesn't seem like they're having productivity issues. Interview Question I asked to Candidates ✌️✌️✌️ Let say report was working fine till yesterday before Deployment and tomorrow morning after UAT live it's not opening. What may be the reasons? 🤔🤔🤔 Answer: Yesterday only 2-3 Developers were opening and working on it. After UAT live it is been used by 100-120 business users and load increased that's why visuals are not loading and showing error of locking conflicts and couldn't retrieve data for visuals or memory allocation error too while developing with Pro Account at PBIx end. Amazon became all over the news recently... Their CEO demanded all employees to work full time in office.. M After Amazon movement regarding mandatory in office work, I guess a lot of companies will follow... Engineers will have 2 different career options, and I see this separation sense I started being in the market 8 years ago... But the separation is becoming more obvious right now... We will find a lot of people, more focused on their work life balance, and some others more focused on big names in resume... And more people are aware why focusing on work life balance now can be more productive... Unfortunately not everyone is capable of having this choice, a lot are stuck in companies that is neither good for anything 😂😂 But this is also a benefit for a lot of remote first companies that will get endless flow of talent.... And as someone whoI built worked remotely for 4 years, I deeply believe that remote companies are built different, and it requires serious mindset shift in leadership to gain its own benefits... And I deeply believe that not all companies can work remotely and remote work isn't a paradise... And not everyone can handle working remotely... But when I build a software company, I will make it remote first (or hybrid)... Because I know how can this affect productivity in a positive way... Stay humans, and stay focused... #remotework

1. Join a big tech company like FAANG. 2. Only work there for a short time, maybe 2 or 3 years. 3. Spend more time making vlogs, courses, reels and social media posts than doing your job. 4. Because you're not doing your job well, you'll get warnings from the company. 5. Before they fire you, leave the company on your own. 6. Build a big following online, especially among students and beginners, saying you worked at FAANG. 7. Convince them they can make a lot of money in big tech like you did. 8. Sell them courses and stuff, promising success. 9. Show off one or two students who got good jobs because of your course, even if it's rare. 10. Keep making money off people until you die. while you're struggling to keep up, there's a whole industry profiting off your dreams. They lure you in with promises of wealth and success, selling you courses and dreams of six-figure salaries. It's time to wake up and smell the scam. People aren't stupid; they can figure it out. If there's a problem with the job, just quit. It's okay. Stop pretending and just sell the courses honestly. Don't say you're not an instructor and then use a picture of an instructor. But what's with all this pretending and using codes like "SCAM" to get discounts on courses? Everyone can see through it. They're treating people like they're stupid. It's ridiculous. Just be honest about selling the courses and stop with the fake promotions. "Absolutely, Yes !!" Based on the candidate's talk about ESOPs and compensation, I can say "Money" is also a factor along with the rest for better future. Therefore, (in interviews) - DSA heavy companies such as Google, Amazon, Uber, Microsoft etc., - DSA + Dev heavy companies such as Zepto, Zomato, PhonePe, Flipkart etc., - Dev heavy companies such as BrowserStack, Flexport, Qualcomm, good startups etc., pays pretty well (>25 LPA and >25L ESOPS) as per his/her Experience level in the current Indian market and it goes up and down based on negotiations with counter offers. However, it always depends on individual choice considering "Work Life Balance", "Tech Stack", "Compensation", and personal choices. So if you are on the same boat, nothing is impossible. Having a better framework for my 1:1 meetings helped me gain better insights from my mentors at Facebook. When I started my career, I always knew I needed mentorship to grow both personally and professionally. I used to ask for and accept any mentorship 1:1 sessions. One thing I missed was doing some groundwork on what I needed before talking to these people. At one point, I had four mentors in six months. I used to simply join the meetings. When you are unprepared regarding what you are looking for and what you need from those sessions, you tend to babble, and that did happen to me as well. It made me feel the following ways: 1. Given that I was unprepared, I used to talk about the same things with different mentors. At the end of the half, I had many pieces of advice on the same issue but was unable to try them out, since I had many choices to address the same problem. 2. Since I wasn't documenting anything, I was not able to give feedback to my mentors. If you are not changing your mindset or unable to judge a mentorship, it's more like wasting everyone's time, and I got this feeling. Thanks to this experience, I now define my goal when I first get a mentor. It might not be perfect, but it can be something like, "I need guidance on how I can become technically strong." This is how I start, and my journey will add the rest. I make a table of contents on what topics to discuss for our 1:1s and drop all the comments into the table. It keeps me organized and helps me revisit when needed. Since I've already defined my goal, we can stay on the same page. Lastly, I visit this table of contents once a week and take any follow-up questions to the next week. I talk about things I implemented from the previous week's feedback. I was able to achieve this only because I documented things, which helped me stay accountable for my groundwork. Ground work is the key!

Let me tell you 2 real stories from the same FAANG company I heard today from 2 different mentees. I am not giving the name of the company. Let's call it "MyDreamCompany" otherwise haters will start in comments with their random points 😂. Today, 2 mentees connected with me. Mentee 1: I need help as I got laid off from "MyDreamCompany" the day before yesterday. Can you please help me with the interview preparation? She also said that around 1500 employees were laid off in that round. Mentee 2: I had an interview with "MyDreamCompany" yesterday. It was the last round. I was like "WTH". Firing and Hiring literally at the same time. How can the above scenario be justified? And that is also from a FAANG company that is supposed to have so many processes, guardrails, etc. to prevent such situations. No empathy, No culture, No ethics, Literally nothing in the industry today.

Few people join as a SDE-1 and within a span of ~7 years, they promote to a very senior level(L6 equivalent to Staff Role) in a company whereas same achievement is hard to realize when you're switching companies. So, what makes these employees so special? A few points: - They joined these companies as SDE-1 - Implemented projects end to end - very pro-active in all things: reviews/discussions/coding. - highly biased for taking actions (critical skillset for growth) - were lucky enough to some extent in getting good projects - were hard working enough to find optimizations & propose as new projects in the product - filled with lots of motivation & drive: showing true ownership at the deepest level one could possibly imagine Staying in a company helps you build context over the years, which the lateral hires within few months might or might not be able to grasp. This post is just a reminder: Switching would probably make money but staying in a company with a little bit of luck can do wonders(both money & role). PS: I did 2 switches in my career and I can relate with this post.
