In May 2024, India's hiring landscape experienced a significant resurgence, as reported by the latest foundit insights tracker. The data reveals 11% annual increase in hiring activity. This upward trajectory is accompanied by a slight 2% decrease in hiring activity from the previous month, indicating short-term fluctuations within a larger positive trend. Over the last three months, there has been a consistent 7% growth, signaling a positive outlook for Indian job market. It appears that India Inc is on a path towards recovery and expansion from what was seen in the previous quarters. Here are some key insights from the report: In-demand Sectors: Production and Manufacturing showed the most substantial increase with 47% YoY growth. Other promising sectors were Telecom/ISP and Healthcare. Struggle continues with Travel & Tourism and Retail sectors. Skill-wise Trends: Software, Telecom, Marketing and Communications, Healthcare continue to remain in-demand skills. City-wise Hiring Trends: Metros continue to remain primary hubs for hiring, even though Tier 2 cities such as Coimbatore, Jaipur and Kochi show promise. Bangalore and NCR are key hubs of hiring, Mumbai is muted. Experience Wise: Hiring has reduced in entry level but continues to increase in mid-experience levels. Overall, businesses are gearing up for 2024, with an anticipated 8.3% overall hiring expansion. Bangalore is expected to surge by 11% among metros, and key sectors like Manufacturing, BFSI, Automotive, Retail, and Travel & Tourism will experience increased hiring.
