Celebrity power couple Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma are set to reap substantial rewards from their investment in Go Digit General Insurance ahead of its IPO. Kohli invested ₹2 crore for 266,667 shares, while Sharma invested ₹50 lakh for 66,667 shares in January 2020. With Go Digit announcing a price band of ₹258 to ₹272 per share for its IPO, Kohli's stake could yield ₹7.5 crore, and Sharma's could realize ₹1.85 crore, totaling a significant profit of ₹6.75 crore. AGENT’s betrayal leaves the customer with a loss of Rs. 2.5 Cr! Trust is the cornerstone of insurance, and today's story might have shaken that foundation for S Manoharan. 💔 So here’s what happened - Mr. S Manoharan, a resident of T Nagar, Chennai, has been diligently paying his LIC premiums since 2013 through his trusted agent, Ravindran. Believing that his hard-earned money was securing his insurance policy. But who knew this would soon become a “Sach Ka Saamna” episode? 📺 Trusting his agent's advice, Manoharan followed through without suspecting anything. Sadly, Ravindran took advantage of this trust. No premium actually went to his insurer! 😓 Instead, he forged Manoharan’s signature and made fake payment receipts to make it seem like the payments were made. Ravindran took his deceit even further by changing the policyholder's address to his own. This sneaky move meant that all official correspondence or updates from the insurer went straight to Ravindran, leaving Manoharan completely in the dark. Through this elaborate scheme, Ravindran managed to divert a whopping Rs. 2.54 Crores of insurance premium funds to his own address and bank account. Meanwhile, Manoharan had no idea his money was being stolen. As soon as he uncovered the fraud, Manoharan wasted no time in reporting it. ‘ Thanks to him, Ravindran is now under arrest by the city police. Despite repeatedly stating my disinterest and blocking numerous numbers, the calls continue. Today, Ms. Rituja Lokhande from your Pune office called to propose a pre-approved offer. I requested the details via email as I was unable to talk. Instead, I received the following message: "Application Received! We have initiated checks for CIBIL, PAN & CKYCR for appln no B2C000076256251. For loan status updates, download the Bajaj app https://lnkd.in/gSiKZKMP. For assistance, connect with our customer service helpline at 8698010101. Bajaj Finance Ltd" This was followed by a CIBIL alert: "CIBIL Alert! Your CIBIL Score and Report was checked by BAJAJ FIN LTD with ECN:7xxxxxxx36 on 2024-06-15. Not you? Visit www.cibil.com/enquiry -CIBIL" These unsolicited credit inquiries negatively impact my CIBIL score. This is the second time Bajaj Finserv has made such an inquiry recently, and it is NOT ACCEPTABLE! Surendra Sir, I find it difficult to trust the teams involved and am seeking your intervention to peacefully disengage from my current arrangement. Upon onboarding, I was charged a fee (Smart something) with the assurance that foreclosure would incur no additional charges. Now, I am told that 4.75% of the OD limit must be paid to close the account, which is another example of #fraud and #miselling aimed at meeting sales targets. Request to TransUnion CIBIL Limited : It appears that financial institutions are not adequately educating their sales staff about the consequences of submitting such queries and their impact on credit scores. Please intervene and enhance the process to prevent such issues. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Claim settlement ratio is a bad metric. It doesn't convey the frustrations of many people who claim insurance. If you claimed an insurance of 100rs , the insurer might only pay out 80rs and still call it settled. In a recent health insurance claim we were left frustrated to see items like blood glucose test and diet charges getting rejected despite having previously had them reimbursed in the same policy. If 10 people claim insurance for 100 rs and each receives 80rs pay out, The claim settlement ratio will still be 100%, but the i doubt if 100% of the policy holders will be satisfied customers. A better metric would be to disclose the 'Amount of claim aurhorised' , which in this case would be a poor 80%

IRDAI has been continuously trying to solve for Health Insurance penetration in India. Earlier Bima Sugam platform (one stop ecommerce like platform for insurance) was approved and now approval of some much needed reforms to ensure financial burden reduction for citizens. I believe another major reform that is pending is raising AWARENESS about insurance to all levels of society. Even if no. of insurances are being sponsored by Government, yet people are not taking the benefits as many people don't know about it or the importance of it. IRDAI has to bring in regulation regarding increasing awareness and importance about insurance. (May be by incentivization or by any another program deemed fit).
