And that is possibly why consultants need to, as the late Steve Jobs said 'Stay Hungry , Stay Foolish' ASCENT - organised a memorable boardroom session with Harsh Mariwala. 9 fellow entrepreneurs had the opportunity to listen and discuss with Harsh ji. For Dr. Vikram A Munshi it was a validation of what we advise our clients. Especially since it came from an entrepreneur who built up a brand and a business. Sharing with you 6 takeaways that is applicable to not only to entrepreneurs but more importantly to 'Intrapreneurs' handling Businesses / Brands. 1. Do what is good for the Business (Or a Brand) 2.Identify the Issue or Define the problem clearly - (we could see how Harsh ji , helped define the problem with the cases of 3 fellow entrepreneurs) 3.Focus - Especially for a target segment. Too many times we see as marketers our greed to go to multiple target segments - similar to a child being left in a sweet shop. Here too , Harsh ji help define the focus for a fellow entrepreneur 4.Loyalty and competence is not a trade off in building a team. This is common in entrepreneurs, where one sometimes tends to overlook competence because the employee has been there for a long time - which is not correct. 5.The KPI for defining Business Net worth is ROCE - Return on Capital Employed 6.Vulnerability is important for a leader - Vulnerability of a leader builds trust. Oh yes, one more thing - I got my copy of Harsh Realities signed by Harsh ji. And also presented him with a copy of my humble effort of 'Find your WhiteSpace' .
