Under the guidance of Mrs. Roli Singh, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, and with the active intervention of Dr. Ajay Shukla, Director, Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital (RML), the need to expand dialysis care was thoroughly explored with Dr. H.S. Mahapatra, HOD, Nephrology & Kidney Transplant. On 4th May, in memory of my beloved father, our team at Adharshila partnered with RML Hospital to enhance the Dialysis Centre Facility. In one such discussion with Dr Gaurav Bhandari, we gathered that there are still some basic expectations of a Nephrologists from service providers, which are either unmet or at least not met with certainty. By no means a comprehensive list, these are the few vital expectations that help Nephrologists have a healthy relation with their dialysis service provider partners and most importantly, a meaningful relation and consultation time with the patients: 1. Peace of mind on infection control 2. Easy access to their respective patient history and treatment progression 3. Patient education and hand holding, for instance education on Cather versus switching to AV Fistula 4. Diagnostics reports with flags to changes 5. Quality of consumables and water Further, on inquiring on what sort of factors service providers need to keep in mind while deploying tools and technology for operations, records or supply chain, Dr Bhandari said, “Frankly, a super easy UI is first thing that comes to mind. Also compliance, privacy and sync with ABDM need to be tightly and professionally handled.” The Renal Project is a fast growing chain of dialysis currently operating 40 dialysis centers with a central operations software VIDUR (Virtual Interface for Dialysis Unit Review)..
