  • 𝟏𝟎 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐭-𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 🎯 =============================================== ❶Mean (Arithmetic Mean) The mean is the sum of the data points divided by the number of data points. Mean=X =3+7+8+5+12+7+9+10+7=68/9 = 7.56 ❷Median To find the median, we first need to sort the data in ascending order: {3,5,7,7,7,8,9,10,12} For an odd number n = 9: The middle value is the 5th value (calculated as (9+1)/2 = 5). Thus, the median is:7 ❸Mode The mode represents the value that occurs most often within a dataset. In our case, the number 7 appears three times, making it more frequent than any other value. Therefore, the mode is: Mode=7 ❹Average (Arithmetic Mean) As mentioned earlier, the average is the same as the mean. So, the average is: 7.56 ❺Deviation (Mean Deviation) Mean Deviation = 13-7.56 | +17-7.56 1 +... 9 Now, find the mean of these deviations: Mean Deviation 4.56+0.56+0.44+2.56+4.44+0.56+1.44+2.44+0.56 Mean Deviation =17.56/9 = 1.95 ❻Standard Deviation (Population) The population standard deviation quantifies how data points deviate from the population mean. The formula for calculating it is: σ= (S(Xi-m)2) Population mean (µ) = 7.56 Data points (N) = 9 Sum of squared differences (Σ(Xi-μ)²) = 56.91 Standard deviation (σ) = √(56.91) = √(6.32) = 2.52. ❼Standard Deviation (Sample) Formula for Sample Standard Deviation: Where: S= S(Xi-m)2 n-1 n = 9 (sample size) Sum of squared deviations (Σ(X) – μ)²) = 56.91 So we calculate the sample variance as: s= √56.910s=√56.910 = √7.11 s= 2.66 ❽ Variance (Population) So, the population standard deviation is approximately 2.52. The formula for population variance is: σ2= Σ (xi-m)2 N The population variance formula is: σ² = population variance, x = individual data points μ = population mean, N = number of data points Given: Population mean (µ) = 7.56 Sum of squared differences from the mean 56.91 Number of data points (N) = 9,02= 56.910-6.3233 So. the Variance (Population) is 6.32. ❾Coefficient of Variation (CV) The coefficient of variation (CV) is given by: Where: CV = x 100 σ = 2.52 (population standard deviation) μ = 7.56 (mean) CV=2x 100 =33.33% ❿ Z-Score (Standard Score) The formula for Z-score is: Where: 2-(Χ - μ) Z= X = 3 (an individual data point) μ = 7.56 (mean),σ = 2.52 (standard deviation) Now, let's calculate the Z-score for X = 3: From (37.56)/2.52 = (-4.56)/2.52 = -1.81 #qualitymanagement #qualitypersonnel #qualitysystem #qualitycontrol #sixsigma #iso9001 #qms #relaibility #KPIs #ContinuousImprovement #Leadership #Statistics #StatisticalProcessControl #StatisticalQualityControl #SQC #SPC Follow Shakehand with Life | Narender Sharma for more valuable updates Credit: Govind Tiwari,PhD

One powerful method is the 5W2H approach: What, Why, Where, When, Who, How, and How Much. Let’s break it down with an example and some insights. ❶Step 1: What is the Problem? Example: A project is delayed due to missing materials. Insight: Be clear and concise. Define the issue in one sentence to set the focus. ❷Step 2: Why is it Happening? Example: Materials were ordered late because the supplier was not informed on time. Insight: Dig deep into the root cause. Use techniques like the 5 Whys to uncover the real reason. ❸Step 3: Where is the Problem Occurring? Example: The issue is with overseas suppliers. Insight: Identifying the location helps you pinpoint specific areas for improvement. ❹Step 4: When Did it Start? Example: The problem began three weeks ago when the purchase request was delayed. Insight: Understanding the timeline helps track patterns and prevent future delays. ❺Step 5: Who is Involved? Example: The procurement team and the supplier are key players. Insight: Knowing who is responsible allows for clear communication and accountability. ❻Step 6: How Can We Solve It? Example: Expedite the current shipment and set up reminders for future orders. Insight: Focus on actionable and realistic solutions that address both the immediate problem and long-term prevention. ❼Step 7: How Much Will it Cost? Example: Expediting the shipment will cost $2,000 but will save $10,000 in project delays. Insight: Evaluate the cost-benefit ratio. Sometimes spending a little upfront saves more in the long run. 𝙁𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙏𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩: 🚀 The 5W2H method provides a simple yet powerful framework to solve problems effectively. • Inspection Vs Process Control ==================== 🔍 Inspection vs. Process Control: What's the difference? Let's break it down! 📝 Inspection: Inspection focuses on evaluating products against specific criteria. If a product meets the set requirements, it is accepted. Otherwise, it is rejected. The process is reactive, dealing with the output after it has been created. While this method helps catch defects, it often does little to prevent them from occurring in the first place. 🔄 Process Control: Process Control, on the other hand, involves monitoring and managing the production process in real-time. Using tools like control charts and understanding process variations, we can proactively identify potential issues before they become defects. This approach ensures stability and helps teams implement measures to prevent future problems. Why choose Process Control? It leads to a more stable process, fewer surprises, and better quality. Remember, consistent improvement happens when you control the process, not just inspect the output. #ContinuousImprovement #QualityManagement #ProcessControl #Inspection #Manufacturing #Lean #SixSigma #LearnFast Source: Vinay Dahiya

  • 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐇𝐢𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐲?🎯 Quality in any organization follows a structured approach, often called the Quality Hierarchy. This hierarchy ensures that products and services consistently meet the desired standards. Let’s explore its five key levels: ❶Inspection • What it is: The most basic level of quality, where products or services are checked after production or delivery. • Activities: Visual checks, measurements, and testing to identify defects. • Insights: A reactive process that focuses on catching errors rather than preventing them. ❷Quality Control (QC) • What it is: A systematic process to monitor and measure performance against predefined standards. • Activities: Setting up procedures, testing samples, and analyzing results to ensure consistency. • Insights: QC is more structured than inspection, ensuring defects are identified before products reach customers. ❸Quality Assurance (QA) • What it is: A proactive approach to ensure processes are designed to prevent defects. • Activities: Process audits, training, and documentation to maintain consistency in production or service delivery. • Insights: QA shifts the focus from product checks to process improvements, reducing the chances of errors. ❹Quality Management (QM) • What it is: A broader system that integrates QC and QA to align quality goals with business objectives. • Activities: Setting policies, aligning teams, and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs). • Insights: QM embeds quality into the organization’s culture, involving leadership and teams at every level. ❺Total Quality Management (TQM) • What it is: A company-wide philosophy that emphasizes continuous improvement and customer satisfaction. • Activities: Engaging all employees, collecting feedback, and improving every aspect of the business. • Insights: TQM integrates all levels of the hierarchy, focusing on long-term success through collaboration and innovation. 𝙃𝙤𝙬 𝘼𝙧𝙚 𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙨𝙚 𝙎𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙜𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙠𝙚𝙙? Each level builds on the previous one: • Inspection identifies issues. • QC standardizes the checks. • QA prevents issues through process design. • Quality Management aligns quality with business goals. • TQM creates a culture of CI & excellence. Understanding this hierarchy helps organizations improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction. By progressing through these levels, businesses can transform their approach to quality from reactive to proactive, ensuring long-term success. #qualitymanagement #qualitysystem #qualitycontrol #ISOstandards #iso9001 #qms #TotalQualityManagement #QualityExcellence #Leadership Follow Shakehand with Life | Narender Sharma for more valuable content Credit: Govind Tiwari,PhD.
