Remember those days when that silly friend in your class was nick-named Sheru, or your accidental wins were a Shikari Shambu moment? Today, we are bringing the same classroom whimsy to Mantra. Our work at Mantra and the education sector has taught us many valuable lessons, some similar to the values these characters nurtured in us as kids. Swipe to see what the world of comic characters left us with and how we use it in our day-to-day. Inspire. Enable. Transform.
About us
Nearly a decade ago, Mantra stepped into the education ecosystem with a vision to transform Public Education in India. In a nation like India with complexities of scale and diversity, enabling quality education cannot be exclusive of systemic reforms. Our mission is to enable enriching learning experiences for children by enabling education leaders to drive school improvements. Towards this, we partner with bodies like the Ministry of Education, State education departments, as well as other Civil Society Actors. We enable school improvement through a tri-fold approach - working directly with schools through our innovation projects, working with state governments towards enabling greater system capacity, and by working with ecosystem actors to nurture a collective of changemakers. As part of our work with state governments, one of our key programs is the Punjab Education Collective - a collective of 4 organizations jointly working towards systemic school reform in the state of Punjab, for which we were recently awarded “The Collective Social Innovation Award” by the Schwab Foundation at the World Economic Forum in January 2023. Through the span of the last 10 years, we have been able to reach 272,090 schools, 276,204 education leaders and 36,457,659 children.

Mathematics often carries a reputation for being a "difficult” subject for many students. The equations, angles, and formulas can seem like an overwhelming task. But it's an important subject that teaches us basic operations we need to do in daily life and the problem-solving approach. On National Mathematics Day, we celebrate the beauty of math and the incredible teachers who make it more approachable and enjoyable for their students. Read the story of Neeraj, a government school teacher turning math into a story of adventure. #NationalMathematicsDay Sushant Kumar | Pratik Jain (He/Him)| Satya P. | Rucha Pande | Santosh More | Khushboo Awasthi

Yesterday, Shailiza Mayal, Senior Manager, Samagra, led an insightful session on Samagra’s #GovernanceFrameworks - The Governance Matrix and Panchsutras For Governance Transformation, with the team members of Mantra4Change and ShikshaLokam. The session explored practical insights drawn from Samagra, Mantra4Change and ShikshaLokam's experience in driving governance transformations and working closely with state governments. Shailiza discussed assessing a system’s readiness using the Governance Matrix, and the importance of setting worthy, relatable, and measurable goals, supported by clear evaluation mechanisms through the Panchsutras for Governance Transformation. She illustrated the Frameworks with examples from our #NIPUNBharatCell program in Uttar Pradesh. Team members from Mantra4Change and ShikshaLokam shared their reflections on the Governance Frameworks, fostering a collaborative platform for the ecosystem to discuss the practicalities of driving impact at scale. Developed from a decade of experience of co-working with central and state governments, the Governance Frameworks can be used by practitioners in the governance and social impact space. Through her lens, Priyanka Pal, Program Lead (STEP - Uttar Pradesh), captures the simplicity of moments around her. In a busy world, the subjects caught on Priyanka’s camera can easily dodge your eye. Yet, the Bhujia vendor, a forgotten statue perched high up on a wall, and a jeep sunbathing away outside her workplace have not only been documented but reflected on. Priyanka’s reflections are a call to pause and find meaning in the seemingly mundane. Through her lens, she makes us wonder—what else are we overlooking in the rush of our busy lives? Tell us in the comments. #YourWorkThroughYourLens Aeshwary Agrawal | Ashwani Chhimwal | Jagpreet Kaur | Nitesh Pathak | Dhruv Prakash Shukla | Ankit Srivastava | Shubhranshu Kumar Upadhyay | Swati Kurm Agrawal | Oishi Banik

Can leadership skills inspire change in a community? At our recent WeLead Leadership Workshop in Ramkrishnapura, Karnataka, 30 Self-Help Group (SHG) women proved the answer is a resounding yes!" As part of our School-Centered Community Development (SCCD) initiative, we held a successful workshop that motivated participants to start their own businesses, create plans to define their SHG’s goals, and make use of government schemes for development. Covering topics like the qualities of a leader, effective communication with government bodies, and documentation, the sessions saw immense enthusiasm and active participation. The positive feedback, with many requesting extended training for more SHG members, highlights the eagerness of these women to develop their skills and create meaningful change in their communities and SHGs. Together, we are building strong leaders and brighter futures!
