Dr.M. Madhu (Director, ICAR-IISWC, Dehradun) is joining as an Chief Guest of the 𝟖𝐭𝐡 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 on “Recent Trends in Advancement of Agriculture, Horticulture, Livestock and Allied Sciences” on 21-22 November 2024 which is jointly organised by Shri Guru Ram Rai University, Dehradun (ICAR accredited), Just Agriculture-the magazine SABSR, Noida. He completed his graduation, master and Ph.D He is a recipient of University of Agricultural Sciences Gold Medal during M.Sc and Ph.D, "Dr H.R. Arakeri Gold Medal" for the best Ph.D Student in #Agronomy. Dr Madhu joined ARS in 1993 and before assuming the charge of Director, ICAR-IISWC, Dehradun, he was serving as Principal Scientist and Head, ICAR-IISWC, Research Centre, Koraput, Odisha. During 27 years of service, he contributed significantly towards the development of soil and water conservation measures in tea plantation, assessed #rainwater use efficiency of tea and estimated crop management of the USLE for tea crop. Contributed significantly for preparation of #SoilErosion Maps of Tamil Nadu and Kerala, Characterization and Zonation of Eastern Ghats. Demonstrated and developed participatory integrated #watershed management in semi-arid region of Tam Nadu (Under IWDP), Western Ghats region (Under HADP), in North-West #Himalayan region (Under TDET) and in tribal dominated Eastern Ghats region of Odisha (Under NWDPRA). A total of 285 soil conservation and 232 #students were trained. Organized 173 capacity building programme to senior level officers to the field functionaries. Leader and associated in 20 consultancy projects. Recipient of prestigious #USDA Global Research Alliance (GRA) Fellowship Programme-2011, Vasantrao Naik Award-2013, IASWC Gold Medal-2010, IASWC-Fellow-2014, Dr K.G. Tejwani Award 2016-17 and #ICAR-Team Research Award-2017. He had more than 200 publications in his credit including research papers, edited books, book chapters, manuals, technical reports and bulletins, symposium / workshop/ seminar papers, popular articles etc., and member of many professional bodies.
