COP29: Driving Global Action for a Sustainable Future It was a privilege to be part of the global leaders’ forums at the recently concluded COP29 in Baku that triggered various thought-provoking discussions. These sessions delved into critical issues of global sustainability ranging from the US Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), the ongoing global transition towards low emissions, Decarbonisation & Electrification of the transport sector, green energy to global Net Zero targets. The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) has become a landmark policy, driving unprecedented investments in renewable energy and green technologies across borders having catalysed global investment in clean energy projects. Its focus on decarbonization offers a template for policies tailored to emerging markets. The role of Multilateral Financial Institutions (MFIs) like IFC,ADB, NDB, AIIB amongst multiple other global MFIs has become pivotal in mobilizing climate finance, impact investing, promoting zero emission technology transfer, expanding clean energy markets and scaling electric mobility. Their commitment towards decarbonisation can significantly amplify global impact by fostering collaboration. Emerging economies in Asia and other forthcoming regions are uniquely positioned to lead the global mobility transformation, with growing demand for clean, efficient public transport. The electrification of transport isn’t solely about deploying EVs—it demands a systemic transformation across energy, infrastructure, and policy ecosystems. Investments in renewable-powered EV infrastructure and public transport systems can create scalable, sustainable solutions for densely populated regions. Achieving low-emission transitions is not just about scaling technology, it’s about equitable access. The global shift toward low-emission pathways, carbon capture, carbon markets, SDG & ESG commitments, Net Zero goals require innovative technologies, inclusive financing, and policy harmonization. On one hand, these strategic discussions also reflected on multiple challenges with respect to fossil duel transition, carbon market complexity, adaption and mitigation gaps, etc. while, on the other, presented green shoots and plethora of opportunities for companies to deliver and countries to work together on key impact areas pertaining to green initiatives, energy, smart cities, digitisation, etc. Participating in these sessions at COP29 strengthened my belief that India is well poised to be the flagbearer in our quest towards addressing the various global sustainability domains. JBM Group’s expertise in integrating technology with sustainability driven business models can play a pivotal role in enabling low-emission transitions. We are committed to leading this journey. Let’s keep the dialogue alive and the momentum strong! #COP29 #Sustainability #GreenEnergy #ZeroEmission #Decarbonisation #GlobalLeadership #Electrification #TechnologyDrivingValue #Innovation #JBMAuto #JBMEV
