IQVIA collaborated with the NTEP, Govt of India at the recently concluded Union World Conference on Lung Health 2024 held in Bali, presenting the Lessons from NTEP of India in Incentivizing #Tuberculosis care in private sector and providing financial support to #TB patients. India’s NTEP instituted financial assistance for TB patients during treatment to curtail catastrophic cost due to TB and also established incentives for private providers (PP) for notifying TB cases to NTEP for enhanced provider engagement. These benefits are released to beneficiary bank accounts through Direct benefit transfer. The scheme efficiency is monitored in terms of coverage and time to disbursement. However, every month, more than 200K new cases are notified and more than 20K PP notify TB cases to NTEP. Prompt payment of these benefits to such increasing volumes of beneficiaries is critical for optimal impact; and delays lead to accumulation of backlogs and undermines the intended purpose. NTEP deployed strategic measures including ensuring adequate fund availability, revised SOPs, enhanced technical assistance to streamline these initiatives. Kavya Sharma Nilesh Maheshwari
