About us
ICPS came into existence on 10th December 1965. It was inaugurated by the then President of India and Chief Patron of the Institute (late) Dr. S. Radhakrishanan in the Central Hall of Parliament House, New Delhi. The Institute was created with the objective of organizing academic, research and training programs in the fields of constitutional and parliamentary studies and thereby to serve as an amalgam of an advanced research center in the mandated field as well as a vehicle for popular dissemination of democratic values. ICPS was perceived to be a global think-tank in its domain area. Stalwarts like Sardar Kukum Singh, Dr. L.M. Singhvi, Shri M.N. Kaul, Shri B.N. Banerjee, Shri P.N. Sapru, Shri B.N. Lokur, Shri S.L. Shakdher, Shri N.C. Chaterjee were among founders of the Institute. The Institute is a registered society (Registration No. S-2683 of 1964-65) under Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 (Punjab Amendment Act 1957 as Extended to the Union Territory of Delhi. This premier Institute is headed by the Hon'ble Speaker, Lok Sabha who is ex-officio President of the Institute.
