While Delhi is making headlines, there is some good news too! Delhi is taking a significant step towards combating air pollution by deploying drones for dust control and real-time air quality monitoring. The Delhi government has initiated a pilot project, hiring three state-of-the-art mist spray drones to tackle dust pollution in 13 identified hotspot areas. These drones aim to: 📍Settle dust particles and reduce PM (Particulate Matter) concentrations. 📍Improve air quality, benefiting public health and the environment. How Do These Drones Work? 📍Equipped with 17-litre tanks, they can cover one acre in just 15 minutes. 📍They’ll follow pre-programmed routes to ensure effective coverage. 📍Integrated with real-time air quality monitoring systems and high-resolution cameras, the drones will measure key pollutants like PM10, PM2.5, ozone, and sulphur dioxide. 1. Real-Time Data for Real Solutions The drones will transmit live air quality data and images to Delhi’s Environment Department, Pollution Control Committee, and the Green War Room for analysis and action. 2. Precision with Technology  With access to advanced geospatial data and support from the Survey of India, the initiative ensures accurate mapping and efficient operations. This innovative use of technology showcases how cities can creatively address environmental challenges.
